A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
APPROVlNG SPECIFICATIONS NO. 203 AND ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
PLAN~ DRAWING NO. B15-1403~ FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF COM-
POSITION ROOFING AND ApPURTENANCES ON RESERVOIR NO. 1 AT
PUMPING PLANT NO. 1 AT CITY HALLGROUNDS~ IN THE CITY OF
VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS~ Harold A. Barnett, Consulting Engineer of the
City Of Vernon has submitted to the City Council with his letter of August 8,
1956, Specifications No. 203 and Engineering Department Plan, Drawing
No. B15-1403, for the construction of composJtion roofing and appurtenances-
on Reservoir No. 1 at Pumping Plant No. 1 at City Hall Grounds, and
recommends that said specifications be approved;
NOW ~ THEREFORE.. BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
That Specifications No. 203 and Engineering
Department Plans Drawing No. B15-1403 be, and the same are hereby
approved as the specifications for the construction of composition roofing
and appurtenances- on Reservoir No. 1 at Pumping Plant No. 1 at City
Hall Grounds. in the City of Vernon.
SECTION 2:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
21 certify to the passage of this- Resolution and thereupon and thereafter the
22 sa.me shall be in full force and effect.
23 ADOPTED and APPROVED this 21st day of August. 1956.

AND APPURTENANCES ON RESERVOIR NO. 1 AT
PUMPING PLANT NO.1, CITY OWNED PROPERTY,
IN ACqORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS NO. 203 OF THE
CITY OF VERNON.
6 Pursuant to Resolution No. 1968 of the City of Vernon. adopted
7 on the 21st day of August. 195.6. directing same. notice is hereby given
8 that sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon.
9 California. at the office of the City Clerk of said City. at the City Hall.
10 4305 Santa Fe Avenue. until the hour of two (2) otclock p. m.. on the 18th
11 day of September. 1956. for the construction in the City of Vernon of
12 composition roofing and appurtenances on Reservoir No. 1 at Pumping
13 Plant No. 1. City owned property. in accordance with Specificationa No.
14 203 approved by said City. The proposals will be publicly opened and
15 read in the Council Chambers of the City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe
16 Avenue. Vernon. California. on the date and the time above-mentioned.
17 Specifications and contract documents may be obtained at the above-
18 mentioned office of the City Clerk upon payment of a deposit of ten dollars
19 ($10.00) for each specification.

City.
Bidders are hereby notified that. pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781# inclusivef Labor Code of Californias the City Council
of the City of Vernon has as ceriained Jhe general prevailing rate of per
diem wages and rates. for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality
in which this work is to be performed# for each craft or type of workman
or mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the
successful bidder, and that the Resolution establishing these prevailing
rates is on file with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon. The prevailing
rates so determined are as follows:

Any classification omitted herein shall be paid at an hourly wage
rate not less than $2.10 per hour.
Overtime - not less than one and one-half (1-1/2) times the above
rates.
Sundays and holidays - not less than one and one-half (1-1/2) times
the above rates.
The foregoing schedule of -per diem wages is based upon a working
day of eight (8) hours. The hourly wage rate shall be the per diem rate
divided by the aforementioned number of hours constituting a working day.
Notice is also hereby given that. pursuant to said Labor Code
of California# it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the
contract is awarded, and upon any subcontractor under hims to pay to all
laborerss workmen or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the
contract not less than the said specified ratesI' which rates shall be

included in the contract to the successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders m~y submit
with their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility, technical
ability and experience. Such sworn statement hIay be required to be fur-
nished before award is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration, each bid submitted pursuant
to this notice. shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of
the City Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check, draft or
bid bond, payable at a bank authorized to do business in the State of
California, made payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon,
in amount equal to ten per cent (10%) of the bid submitted.. shall be de-
livered to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon ina sealed envelope at,
or before, the time stated herein... and must be plainly marked "Proposal
for Construction of Reservoir Roofing Reservoir No. 1. II
The above mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guaran-
tee that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will
be declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter
into a contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the
City Clerk of the City of Vernon, California. The successful bidder will
be required to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to
fifty per cent (50%) of the contract price, and a faithful performance bond
in an amount equal to one hundred per cent (1000/0) of the contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law, no bidder may withdraw
his bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening
thereof.
A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to secure
the Plans and Specifications, as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifica-
tions will be returned. which deposit will be refunded in case same are
returned to the City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) hours
after the bids on the work will have been opened.
