RESOLUTION NO. 1990
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
3 DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR THE FURNISHING AND DELIVERY TO THE CITY OF
4 VERNON OF TWO ELECTRIC MOTOR DRIVING UNITS AND APPUR-
TENANCES~ ONE EACH FOR WELLS NO.4 AND NO.5 OF THE. CITY
5 OF VERNON. IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS NO. 206 OF
SAID CITY.

7 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
10 and delivery to the City of Vernon of two electric motor driving units and
9 directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the furnishing
11 appurtenances, on each for Wells No. 4 and No. 5 of said City# in
12 accordance with Specifications No. 206 approved by Resolution No. 1989#
13 and the Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals contained in said Specifications
14 No. 206.

SECTION 2:
There being no newspaper of general circula-
16 tion printed# published and circulated in the City of Vernon# the City Clerk
17 is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the same to be posted# in
18 three of the most public places in said City# to wit: the northwest corner
19 of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis Boule-
20 vard and Pacific Boulevard. and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the
21 City Hall of the City of Vernon# located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said City.

SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be not
less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed
equipment.
The notice shall distinctly state the equipment
to be furnished.
SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter the

NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS
FOR THE FURNISHING OF TWO ELECTRIC MOTOR
DRIVING UNITS.. ONE UNIT EACH FOR WATER WELLS
NO.4 AND NO.5 IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICA-
TIONS NO. 206 OF THE CITY OF VERNON~
7 Pursuant to Resolution No. 1990 of the City of Vernon# adopted
8 on the 7th day of November# 1956# directing same# notice is hereby given
9 that sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon#
10 California# at the office of the City Clerk of said City. at the City Hall#
11 4305 Santa Fe Avenue# until the hour of two (2) 0 'clock P. M. # on the 20th
12 day of November. 1956. for the furnishing of two electric motor driving
13 units, one unit each for Water Wells No. 4 and No. 5# in accordance with
14 Specifications No. 206 approved by said City. The proposals will be
15 publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of the City Hall located
16 at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue. Vernon# California# on the date and the time
17 above-mentioned. Specifications and contract documents may be obtained

at the above-mentioned office of the City Clerk upon payment of a deposit
of ten dollars (:\no. 00) for each specification.
The materials and equipment to be furnished under said
specifications No. 206 are as follows:
Furnish and deliver one two hundred (200) horsepower
electricmotor# discharge head and driver assembly.
and appurtenances for Well No.4.
Furnish and deliver one two hundred (200) horsepower
electric motor. discharge head and driver assembly#
and appurtenances for Well No.5.
The materials and equipment shall be in accordance with
Specifications No. 206 heretofore approved by the City Council of said City#
and now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City# copy of which
may be secured from the City Engineer of said City.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with
32 ability and experience. Such sworn statement may be required to be
their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility, technical

furnished before award is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration# each bid submitted pursuant
to this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the
City Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check, draft or bid
bond, payable at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California.
made payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon. in amount
equal to ten per cent (10%) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the
City Clerk of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at, or before# the time
stated herein, and must be plainly marked "Proposal for Furnishing
Electric Motor Driving Units for Wells No.4 and No. 5t~
The above mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee
that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and win be
declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into
a contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City
Clerk of the City of Vernon. California. The successful bidder will be
required to furnish a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to one
hundred per cent (100%) of the contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law. no bidder may withdraw his
bid for a period of thirty (30)days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to secure the
Plans and Specifications. as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications
will be returned. which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned
to the City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) hours after the
bids on the work will have been opened.
The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all
bids or waive any informality in the bid.
