5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
AUTHORIZING R. J. FURLONG.. MAYOR AND DIREGTOROF CIVIL
DEFENSE~ TO SIGN FOR AND ACCEPT SURPLUS FEDERAL PROPERTY
FOR CIVIL DEFENSE PURPOSES.
6 WHEREAS. by Public Law 655. 84th Congress (70 Stat. 493)#
7 the Federal Government has authorized the donation of surplus Federal
8 property for civil defens.e purposes; and
9 WHEREAS... certain conditions are imposed by the Federal
10 Civil Defense Administration. the Department of Healt~ Education and
11 Welfare. the California Disaster Office. and the Surplus Property Division
12 of the State Department of Education in connection with the acquisition of
13 such property; and
14 WHEREAS... the City of Vernon desires to become eligible to
15 acquire such property;
16 NOW. THEREFORE# IT IS RESOLVED by the City Council
17 of said City that R. J. Furlong, Mayor a.nd Director of Civil Defense.
18 shall be and is hereby authorized as the representative of said City to
19 sign for and accept surplus Federal property in accordance with the con-
20 ditions imposed by the above agencies; and
21 IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Glerkofthis Council
22 I is hereby authorized and directed to send two (2) certified copies of this
23 Resolution to the California Disaster Office. for filing with said Disaster
24 Office and with the State Department of Education; a,nd
25 IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution of authoriza-
:!: 26 tion shall remain in full force and effect until amended... superseded. or
