RESOLUTION NO. 2055
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS NO. 212 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
ASPHALT CONCRETE PAVEMENT RESURFACING IN 26th STREET FROM
800 FEET EAST OF SOTO STREET TO DOWNEY ROAD. IN THE CITY OF
VERNON. AND DETERMINING THE GENERAL PREVAILING R.ATE OF PER
DlEM WAGES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
7 WHEREAS. under date of May 2, 1957. Harold A. Barnett,
8 Consulting Engineer of the City of Vernon, presented to the City Council
9 Specifications No. 212 for th.e construction of asphalt concrete pavement
10 resurfacing in 26th Street from 800 feet East of Soto Street toI)owney Road;
11 and
12 WHEREAS, said Harold A. Barnett recommended that said
13 Specifications be approved;
14 NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED:

SECTION 1:
That Specifications No. 212 covering the
16 construction of asphalt concrete pavement resurfacing in 26th Street from 800
17 feet east of Soto Street to Downey Road be, and the same are hereby approved.

SECTION 2:
The City Council of the City of Vernon has
ascertained and does hereby find and declare that the general prevailing rate
per diem for wages for laborers, workmen and mechanics employed by con-
tractors and sub contractors, for the doing of any work set forth in Specifica-
tionsNo. 212, are those wage rate schedules contained in Specifications No.
212.
SECTION 3:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and th.ereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 7th day of May, 1957.

IN THE CITY OF VERNONa IN ACCORDANCE WITH
SPECIFICATIONS NO. 212 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
6 Pursuant toResolution No. 2056 of the City of Vernon, adopted
7 on the 7th da.y of May, 1957, directing same, notice is hereby given that seale
8 proposals or bids will be received by the City .of Vernon, California, at the
9 office of the City Clerk of said City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe,Avenue..
10 until the hour of two (2)0'c1ock p. m., on the 21st day of lVlay.. 1957, for the
11 construction of asphalt concrete pavement resurfacing in 26th Street from
12 800 fe.et east of Soto Street to Downey Road, in the City of Vernon, inaccor-
13 dance with Specifications No. 212 approved by said City. The proposals will
14 be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of the City Hall located
15 at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, California.. on the date and the time above-
16 mentioned. Specifications and contract documents may be ohtainedat the
17 above-mentioned office .of the City Clerk upon payment of a deposit of ten
18 dollars ($10.00) for each specification.
19 The construction to be done and materials to be furnished
20 under said Specifications .No. 212 are approximately as follows:
21 Asphalt concrete pavement resurfacing,
22 including p:r.eparation of existing pavement surface..
23 approximately one and one-half (1:4/2) _ inches

Bidders are hereby notified that. pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781. inclusive. Labor Code of California. the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per
diem wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality
in which this work is to be performed. for each craft or type of workman or
mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the success-
ful bidder. and that Resolution No. 2055 establishing these prevailing rates
is on file with. the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with
their bids a swornstaiement of their financial responsibility. tte;c.hnical
ability and experience. Such sworn statement maybe required to be fur-
nished before award is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration. each bid submitted pursuant. to
this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the City
Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check. draft or bid bond.
payable at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California. made
payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon. in amount equal to
ten per cent (100/0) of the bid submitted. shall be delivered to the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at. or before. .the time stated
herein. and must be plainly marked "Proposal to Construct Asphalt Concrete
Pavement Resurfacing in 26th Street from ROO feet east of So to Street to
Downey Road".
Theabove-mentionedche.ck or bond shan be given as a guarantee
that the bidder win enter into a contract if awarded to him and win be de-
c1ared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a
contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon. California. The successful bidder will be required to
furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty percent (50%)
of the contract price. and a faithful performance hond in an amount equal to
one hundred per cent (100%) of the contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law. no biddermaywithdrqw his
bid for a period of thirty {30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.

3 will be returned, which deposit will be refunded incase same .arereturned
4 to the City in good condition not later than forty~eight (48) hours after the
5 bids on the work will have been opened.
6 The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all bids
7 or waive any informality in the bid.

circulation printed and published in the City of Vernon.
