RESOL UTION NO. 2064
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
DIRECTING THE IMMEDIATE INSTITUTION OF LEGAL PROCEEDINGS
TO DETERMINE THE RIGHTS OF THE CITY OF VERNON UNDER ITS
LEASE WITH THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY OF
VERNON'S ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT AND INTERCONNECTED
ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION DISTRIBUTING SYSTEM.
WHEREASs the Southern California Edison Company~ formerly
named Southern California Edison Companys Ltd... declared that the term of
years that .may have been created by.or under the leas:eagreement between
the City of Veruonand said Company~ dated February 23s 1937~ has expired
and has not been extended or renewed and that it is not subject to be further
extended or renewed; and
WHEREAS, it is the position of said Company that it has been
and is now in possession of the leased property as a tenant from month to
month or year to year with the right to be reimbursed for additions and
betterments made by it on the basis set out in the lease agreement; and
WHEREAS~the position taken by the Edison Company is contrary
to the views of the City Council of the City of Vernon~ as lessor under s.aid
lease;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECT ION 1:
That the firm ofDarling~ Shattuck & Edmonds~
21 special counsel for the City of Vernons be instructed to immediately institute
22 legal proceedings .in a proper court or courts for the determination of the
23 rights of the City of Vernon under said lease agreement with the Southern
24 California Edison Company.

SECTION 2:
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 10th day of June~ 1957.
