SECTION 2:
There being no newspaper of general circulation
printed,. published and circulated in the City of Vernon,. the City Clerk is
hereby dir.ected to po.st sai.d notice,. or cause the same to be posted,. in three
of the most public places in said .Clty,. to wit: The northwest corner of 38th
Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast carner of Leoms Bouleyard.and
.
Pacific Boulevard. and an the bulletin hoard in the lobby of the city Hall of
the City of Vernon. located at 4305 .Santa Fe Avenue in said City.
SECTION 3:
The first posting of said natice shall be not less
than. ten (to). days befare the date af apening bids far the proposed work. The
notice shall distinctly state the work to. be dane and the materials to. be
furnished.
SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of tne City of VernDn shall
certify to. the pasSage Df this Resalution and thereupon and thereafter the
.same shall be in full force and effect.

Pursuant to. Resolution No. 2111 of the City of Vernon,. adopted on
the3rd day of December. 1957,. directing same,. notice is hereby given that
sealed propoSals or bids will he received by the City of Vernon~ California~
at the office of the City Clerk of said City. at the City Hall.. 4305 Santa Fe
Avenue~ untU the hour af two. (2) o..clock P. M. ~ .on the 17thdayoi :Oecember~
1957. for the c011$tructio.n in the City of Vernon of a.sph~t concrete pavement
resurfacing in Washington BOulevard west of DowneyRoad~ in accordance
with. Specifications No. 219 approved by said City. The propOsals will "be
publicly opened and read in. the Council Chamh.ers .of. the City Hall loeated at
4305 Santa Fe Avenue,. Yernon,. California,. on the date and at the time above'"
mentic>D.ed. Specifications and co.ntract documents may be obtained at the
above...mentioned office of the City Clerk upon payment of a depo.sit often
dollars ($10.00) for each specification.
The construction to be done and materials to be furnished under
said Specifications :&0.219 are approximately as follows:
Asphalt concrete resurfacing~ including prepa;f'ation
af existing pavement surface~ approximately two (2)
inches thick. 2.70 tons
Removal and disposal of .existing asphalt concrete
pavement~ including. reconstruction with asphalt
concrete base~ approximately six(6} inches thick. 11Q0l3q. ft.

of the City of Vernon .has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem
wages and rates for l~gal holidays and over-time work in the locality in which,
this work is to be performed,. for each craft or type of workman or mecha.nic
needed to execute that contract which will be awarded to the s1.lccessful bidder~
and that Resolution No. 2110 establishingtheae prevaUingrafes"is on file
with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that~ pursuant to said Labor Code of
Califo:rnia# it shall bemand.atory upon the Can tractor to whom the contract
is. awa.rded~ and upon any subcontractor under him,. to pay toallla.borers~
workmen. or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract
not les..s thanthes,aid speci.fied rates~ which rates shall be included in th~
contract to the successful bidder.
Notice is further herebyglyen that all bidders may submit with
th.eir bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility# technical
ability and experience . Such sworn statement may be required to be furnishe
before award is made to any p.articul.ar bidder.
'1.0 be entitled to consideration~ each bldsuhmitted pursuant to this
notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the office of the City
Engineer; shall he accompanied by acertifiedcheck~ draft or bidb.ond,.pay-
able at a bank authorwed to .do business in the State of Cal,ifornia# made pay-
able at s~ght to the City Clerk of the C:i.tYQf Vernon# in amount equal to ten
per cent (10") of th.e bid submitted,. shall be delivered to. the City Clerk of

The above mentioned check or bond shall he given as a guarantee
that th.e bidder will enter into. a contract if awarded to him .and will be declare
forfeited if the succeSsful bidder refuses or neglects to ent.er into a contract
of the required form after being requested to dos.o by the City Clerk of the
City of Yernon,. California. The successful bidder will be required to furnish
a labor and material bond in an amou.nt equal to fifty per cent (50") of th.e
contract price,. and a faithful performance bond in an amountequai to one

hundred percent (1001~) of the contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law,. no bidder may withdraw his bid
for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will he required to secure the
Plans and Specifications~ as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications will
be returned~ which deposit will b.e refunded in case same are returned to the
City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) haul'S after the bids on the
work will have been opened.
The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all bids
or wai veanY informality in the bid.
