A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
APP:R.OVlNGSPECIFICATIONS NO. 216 AND PLANS NOS. B.-lij-1458
CONSISTING OF EIGIiT(S) SHEETS. FOR THE MUNICIPAL HOUSING.
FRUITLAND AND VERNON A VENUES. YERNON. CALIFORNI.A.;, AND
DETERMINING THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATE OF PE.R DIEM WAGES.
7 WHEREAS> under date of February 13,. 1958, J..S. Colton, Build-
8 fng:Engil1.eer, submitted to the City.Council his recommendation that
9 Specifications No. 216 and Plans Nos. B-15-1458cons"isting of eight (8)
10 sheets> as prepared by Mason, Muntz &. Associates, be approved for the
11 Municipal Housingf,it Fruitland and Vernon Avenues, in the City of Vernon;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, the City .Councilof the City of Vernon has investigated
14 the general prevailing rate of per diem wages to be paid for the work done
15 under said Specifications No. 216;

SECTION 1:
That Specifications No. 216 and Plans Nos.
18 B,..15-1458 consistingpfeight (8) sheets be, and the same are hereby
19 approved for the Municipal Housing at Fruitland and Vernon Avenues> in the
20 City of Vernon.

SECTION 2:
The City Council of the City of Vernon has
ascertained and does hereby find and declare that the general prevailing rate
per diem for wages for laborers, workmen and mechanics employed by
contractors and sub-contractors, for the doing of any work set forth in
Specifications No. 216 are those wage rate schedules contained in said
Specifications No. 216.
SECTION 3:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernonsba.ll
certifyto the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter the

SPECIFICATIONS NO. 216 OF THE crTY OF

PurSuant to Re.solution No. 2135 of the CityofYernon, adopted on
the 18th day of February, 1958.1 directing same, notice is hereby given that
sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon, California,
at the office of the City Clerk of said City, at the City Rall, 4305 Santa Fe
Avenue, until the hour of two (2)olclock P.M:., on the 18thday.of lIarch,
1958, fo.r the .MunicipalHousing, Fruitland and Vernon Avenues, Vernon,
California, in accordance with Specifications No. 216 approved by.said City.
The proposals will be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of
the City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue.. Vernon, Ca1ifo.rnia,on the
date and at the time above mentioned. Contract drawings and specifications
may be obtained at the above-mentioned office of the City Clerk upon payment
of a deposit of twenty-five dollars ($i25.(10) for each set.
The work to be done under said Specifications No. 216 is as follows:
Erect four new houses on Fruitla:nd Avenue at
Pumping Plant No. 3, and one new house and reloca-
tiono! existing two-bedroom house on Vernon Avenue
at Pumping Plant No.2, together w.ith gl;trages.

The con:iltbmction shall be in accordance with Plans No. B-15-1458
conststingof eight (8) sheets and SpecificattonsNo. .216 heretofo.reapproved
by the City Council of said City,. and now on file in the office of the City
Clerk of said City~copy .of which may be secured from the EngineeringJ)epart
ment of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781.. inclusive.. Labor Code of California.. the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevaUingrate of perdIe.m
wages and rates for legal holidays andover-time work in the locality in
which this work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman 'Or

Notice ts also hereby given that, pursuant to said Labor Code of
California # it shalt be mandatory upon the Contractor towh-om the contract
is awarded,and upon any subcontractor under him" to pay to al1 laborers #
workmen or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract
not less than the said specified rates, which rates shall be included in. the
contract to the successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given thatal1 bidders may. submit with
their bids a sworn statement of their financtal responsibility.. teehnteal
ability and experience. Such sworn statement maybe required to be fur-
niahed before award is made to any particular bidder.

The above mentioned check or bond s:halI be given as: a guarantee
that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be
declared forfeited if Ihesuccessful bidder refuses or neglects: to enter into
.a contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City
Clerk of the City of Vernon, California. Th.esucces:sful bidder will be
required to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty
per cent (50%) of the Contract price, and a faithful performance bond in. an
amount equal to one hundred per cent (100~) of thecontra.cl price.
Unless otherwise required by law> n"O bidder may withdraw his bid
for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
