A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCn.. OF THE CITY OF VER.NON
3 PROVIDING FOR MUTUAL AID BETWEEN THE POLlCE DEPART~
OF THE CITY OF VERNON AND THE POLlCE DEPARTMENTS OF OTHER.
4 GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

7 WHEREAS.. a major disaster or local emergency may occur
8 momentarily which cannot be met with a governmental agency's own
9 I facilities.. and it is desirable that there be agreements between nearby
10 i governmental agencies and their several departments to render mutual aid
11 in the event of such occurrence to the extent that may be possible without
12 depriving unduly the governmental agency ext ending such aid of the benefit
13 and use of its own facilities;
14 NOW.. THEREFORE.. BE IT RESOLVED:

That.. pursuant to the provisions of this
SECTION 1:
16 resolution.. the Police Chief of the City of Vernon.. or in his absence or
17 inability to act.. then his authoriZed representative.. be and he is hereby
18 authorized and directed to use the equipment and the personnel of his
19 Department" or the equipment and personnel of the City of Vernon Police
20 Department under his. supervision or control.. or such part thereof as. he
21 deems is necess.ary or advisable for the purpose of cooperating with the
22 Police Departments of any city or other political subdivision within the
23 County of .Los Angeles.

SECTION 2:
In the event of any major disaster or local
emergency which cannot be met with the facilities of the local Police
Department.. the Police Chief or his authorized representative is hereby
authorized to call upon such other Police Departments or Sherifffs Office
for assistance as he may deem necessary.
SECTION 3:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and therea.fter the

1 same shall be in full force and effect.
2 ADOPTED and APPROVED this 15th day of April# 1958.

This resolution speaks of a city making. a
IIrequest for aid II, whic:b. may be sufficient during a..
l'major disaster" or local emergency, but it does not
meet the day-to-day police problems, with which we are
faced.
It is hereby recommended that a resolution
similar to the City of Vernon's Resolution No. 2090
be passed, instead of the Huntington Park Resolution.
