RESOLUTION NO. 2281
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
GIVING NOTICE OF PROPOSED ANNExATION TO CITY OF VERNON OF
UNINHABITE.D TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN AND. DESIGNATED
"BANDIN! ANNExATION". AND GIVING NOTICE OF TIME AND pLACE
FOR HEARING OF PROTESTS THERETO.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
That, pursuant to the provisions of the
Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, a petition signed by owners
of not less than one-fourth of the land in the hereinafter described territory,
by area and by assessed value as shown on the last equalized assessment
roll of the County of Los Angeles, was filed with the Council of the City of
Vernon on June 23, 1959, requesting annexation of the hereinafter described
territory to said City.
SECTION 2:
That the territory which the petitioners request
be annexed to Sla.id City of Vernon and which said City and its Council propose
to annex, is situate in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, hereby
designated "Bandini Annexation" and described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the northwesterly line of
Atlantic Boulevard (formerly Atlantic Avenue) and the northeasterly
boundary of the City of Vernon as per map filed in book 3 at page 19
of Official Maps, in the office of the Recorder of Los Angeles County,
California; thenc.e generally northeasterly along the generally north-
westerly line of said Atlantic Boulevard to a point in that certain
curve in the Southerly line of Bandini Boulevard, described as having
a radius of 30 feet in deed to the County of Los Angeles recorded
February 24, 1925 in Book 3860, Page 214, Official Records of said
County; thence Northeasterly in a direct line to the most Westerly
comer of the parcel of land (for Atlantic Boulevard) described in deed
to the County of Los Angeles recorded June 1, 1936 in Book 14186, Page
110, Official Records of said County; thence Northeasterly along the
Northwesterly line of said last mentioned deed, Northeasterly along
the Northwesterly line of Atlantic Boulevard (formerly Atlantic Avenue)
as described in deed to the County of Los Angeles recorded May 9,
1936 in Book 14074, Page 297, Official Records of said County, North-
easterly along the Northwesterly line of Atlantic Boulevard (formerly
Atlantic Avenue) described as Parcell in deed to the County of Los
Angeles recorded December 20, 1935 in Book 13900, Page 29, Official
Records of said County and continuing northeasterly along the north-
easterly prolongation of that certain course described as having a
bearing of North 480 48' 39t1 East in said last mentioned deed, to the
northerly line of East 26th Street as shown on said map; thence
westerly along said northerly line to a southeasterly corner of the
boundary of the City of Vernon, as shown on said map; thence continuing
westerly along said last mentioned boundary and following the same in
all its various courses to the point of beginning.

That the County Boundary Commission of
SECTION 3:
2 Los Angeles County, California, did in session duly assembled on May 27,
3 1959, consider the proposed annexation boundaries of said "Bandini Annexa-
4 tion", as above described, and as submitted to said Commilision by the
5 proponents of said annexation.

the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles , California, is hereby fixed as the

time and place when and where any person owning real property within the
uninhabited territory above described and proposed to be annexed to the City
of Vernon, and having any objections to the proposed annexation, may appear
before the Council of the City of Vernon and show cause why such uninhabited
13 territory should not be so annexed to the City of Vernon. The protest must
14 be in writing. may be filed at any time before the hour set for hearing
15 objections to the proposed ahnexation, and shall state the name or names of
16 the owner or owners of property affected and the description and area of such
17 property. in general terms.

SECTION 5:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published
at least twice, but not oftener than once a week in the Los Angeles Daily
Journal, a newspaper of general circulation published outside the City of
Vernon, but in the County of Los Angeles, California, the county in which is
located the territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Vernon. said
publication to be complete at least twenty (20) days prior to the date set for
hearing. The City Clerk is also authorized and directed to post a: copy of
this Resolution not less than twenty (20) days before the hearing in at least
three conspicious places within the territory to be annexed.
SECTION 6:
The said City Clerk is further authorized and
directed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to
each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed was
assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll available on the date
the above said proceedings were initiated, at the addresses shown on said

1 assessment roll or known to said Clerk, and to any person who has filed his
2 name and address and the designation of the lands in which he has an interest,
3 either legal or equitable, with said Clerk, such notice to he given not less
4 I than twenty (20) days before the first public hearing on the proposed annexa-

SECTION 7:
In the event any land within the territory pro-
7 posed to be annexed is owned by a county, the City Clerk is directed to cause
8 written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to the Board of
9 Supervisors of such county, such notice to be given not less than twenty (20)
10 days before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation.

SECTION 8:
In the event there is, upon the land proposed to
12 be annexed to said City, a structural improvement owned, being acquired or
13 leased by a county fire protection district, the City Clerk is directed to cause
14 written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to the governing body
15 of such district, such notice to be sent not less than ten (10) days before the
16 first public hearing upon such proposed annexation.

SECTION 9:
The City Clerk is directed to cause written
18 notice to be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled thereto,
19 in the m.anner required },)y taw.

SECTION 10:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
21 directed to certify to the passage of this ResolUtion and thereupon and there-
22 after the same shall be in full force and effect.
