DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
4 OR BIDS FOR THE FIRE STATION NO. 3~ IN ACCORDANCE WITH
SPECIFICATIONS NO. 229 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
8 hereby directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for Fire
9 Station No. 3 in accordance with Specifications No. 229 and Plans No. B14-
10 1538 consisting of twelve (12) sheets~ and the Notice Inviting Sealed Pro-
11 posals contained in said Specifications No. 229.

SECTION 2:
There being no newspaper of general cir-
13 culation printed~ published and circulated in the City of Vernon~ the City
14 Clerk is hereby directed to post said notice~ or cause the same to be posted~
15 in three (3) of the most public places in said City~ to wit: the northwest
16 corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis
17 Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard~ and on the bulletin board in the lobby of
18 the City Hall of the City of Vernon~ located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said
19 City.

SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be
21 not less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed
22 work. The notice shall distinctly state the work to be done.

SE.CTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
24 certify to the passage of this Resolution~ and thereupon and thereafter the
25 same shall be in full force and effect.
26 ADOPTED and APPROVED this 2nd day of February~ 1960.

NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR THE FIRE STATION NO. 3
IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS
NO. 229 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
5 Pursuant to Resolution No. 2301 of the City of Vernon~ adopted on
6 the 2nd day of February" 1960" directing same~ notice is hereby given that
7 sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon" California"
8 at the office of the City Clerk of said City~ at the City Hall" 4305 Santa Fe
9 Avenue~ until the hour of two (2) olclock P. M." on the 1st day of March~ 1960~
10 for Fire Station No. 3~ in accordance with Specifications No. 229 approved
11 by said City. The proposals will be publicly opened and read in the Council
12 Chambers of the City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue~ Vernon" Californi ".
13 on the date and at the time above-mentioned. Contract drawings and specifica.

tions may be obtained at the above-mentioned office of the City Clerk upon
payment of a deposit of twenty"five dollars ($25. 00) for each set.
The construction shall be in accordance with Plans Nos. B14-1538
consisting of twelve (12) sheets. and Specificati ons, No. 22a heretofore approved
by the City Council of said City, and now on file. in the office of the City Clerk
of said City" copy of which may be secured from the City Engineer of said City
Bidders are hereby notified that~ pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781" incIusive~ Labor Code of California~ the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem
wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality in which
this work is to be performed~ for each craft or type of workman or mechanic
needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder~
and that the Resolution establishing these prevailing rates is on file with the
City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is a.lso hereby given that" pursuant to the Labor Code of
California" it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract
is awarded" and upon any subcontractor under him" to pay to all laborers"
workmen or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract not
less than the said specified rates. which rates shall be included in the contract

1 to the successful bidder.
2 Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with
3 their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility. technical
4 ability and experience. Such sworn statement may be required to be fur-
5 nished before award is made to any particular bidder.
6 To be entitled to consideration~ each bid submitted pursuant to
7 this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the office of the City
8 Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check. draft or bid bond~ pay-
9 able at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon~ in amount equal to ten
10 per cent (100/8) of the bid submitted~ shall be delivered to the City Clerk of the
11 City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at~ or before. the time stated herein. a.nd
12 must be plainly marked "Proposal for Fire Station No. 3~ City of Vernon.
13 CaliforniaH.
14 The above mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee
15 that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be de-
16 c1ared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a
17 contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk
18 of the City of Vernon~ California. The successful bidder will be required

to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per cent (50%)
of the Contract price~ and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to
one hundred per cent (1000/0) of the contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law ~ no bidder may withdraw his
bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of twenty-five dollars ($25. 00) will be required to secure
the Plans and Specifications~ as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications
will be returned, which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned to
the City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) hours after the bids
on the work will have been opened.
The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all bids
or waive any informality in. the bid.
