A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWERS IN 26TH
STREET~ DOWNEY ROAD~ SOTO STREET~ AND WASHINGTON BOULE-
V ARD~ IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 232 OF THE CITY OF
VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
hereby directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the
construction of sanitary sewers in 26th Street~ Downey Road~ Soto Street
and Washington Boulevard, in accordance with Contract No. 232 and Plans
No. Al-1487~ Al-1488" Al-1489 and Al-1490~ and the Notice Inviting Sealed
Proposals contained in said Contract No. 232.
SECTION 2:
There being no newspaper of general circula-
tion printed" publiShed and circulated in the City of Vernon~ the City Clerk
is hereby directed to post said notice~ or cause the same to he poste~ in
three (3) of the most public places in said City~ to wit: the northwest corner
of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis .Boulevard
and Pacific Boulevard~ and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall
of the City of Vernon~ located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said City.
SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be not
less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed work.
The notice shall distinctly state the materials to be furnished and the work to
be done.
SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the
same shan he in full force and effect.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 232
OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
6 Pursuant to Resolution No. 2322 of the City of Vernonl adopted
7 on the 16th day of February~ 19601 directing same~ notice is hereby given
8 that sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernonl Californi
9 at the office of the City Clerk of said City~ at the City HaUl 4305 Santa Fe
10 Avenuel until the hour of two (2) olclock P. M. 1 on the 1st day of MarchI 1960~
11 for construction of sanitary sewers in 26th Street~ Downey Road~ Soto Streetl
12 and Washington Boulevard~ in accordance with Contract No. 232 approved by
13 said City. The proposals will be publicly opened and read in the Council
14 Chambers of the City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon~ California
15 on the date and at the time above mentioned. Specifications a.nd contract
16 documents may be obtained at the above-mentioned office of the City Clerk
17 upon payment of a deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) for each specification.

The construction shall be in accordance with Plane No. A1-1487~
A1-1488. Al-1489 and Al-1490 and Contract No. 232 heretofore approved
by the City Council of said City~ and now on file in the office of the City
Clerk of said City~ a copy of which may be secured from the City Engineer
of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that~ pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781~ inclusive. Labor Code of CaUfornia~ the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem
wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality in which
this work is to he performed~ for each craft or type of workman or mechanic
needed to execute the contract which wiU be awarded to the successful bidder~
and that said Resolution establishing these prevailing rates is on file with
the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that~ pursuant to said Lahor Code of
California.. it shaU be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the Contract
is awarded~ and upon any subcontractor under him~ to pay to alllaborers~
workmen or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the Contract not
less than the said specified rates I which rates shall be included in the Contract
to the successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with
their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility. technical ability
and experience, such sworn statement may be required to be furnished before
award is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration. each bid submitted pursuant to
this notice shaU be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the

City Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check~ draft or bid bond.
payable at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California~ made
payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of V ernon~ in am.ount equal to
ten per cent (100/0) of the bid submitted. shall be delivered to the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at~ or before, the time stated
herein~ and must be plainly marked f1Proposal for Construction of Sanitary
Sewers in 26th Street, Downey Road~ SotoStreet~ and Washington Boulevard. II
The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given asa guarantee
that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be de-
clared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a
contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk
12 of the City of Vernon. California. The successful bidder will be required to
13 furnish a labor and material bond in an am.ount equal to fifty per cent (50%) of
14 the Contract price~ and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to one
15 hundred per cent (100%) of the contract price.
16 Unless otherwise required by law~ no bidder may withdraw his
17 bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
18 A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to secure the
19 Plans and Specifications~ as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications will
20 be returned~ which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned to the
21 City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) hours after the bids on
22 the work will have been opened.
23 The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all bids
24 or waive any informality in the bid.
25 Dated at the Office of the City Clerk of the City of Vernon this
26 16th day of February, 1960.
