RESOLUTION NO. 2326
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
3 DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR
BIDS FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF VERNON A VENUE.FROM SOTO
4 STREET TO DOWNEY ROAD~ IN ACCOltDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO.
235 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.

6 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
8 hereby directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the
9 reconstruction of Vernon Avenue from Soto Street to Downey Road. in
10 accordance with Contract No. 235 and Plan No. A3-1544~ and the Notice
11 Inviting Sealed Proposals contained in said Contract No. 235.

SECTION 2:
There being no newspaper of general circufu...
tion printed~ published and circulated in the City of Vernon~ the City Clerk
is hereby directed to post said rrotice~ or cause the same to be posted" in
three (3) of the most public places in said City" to wit: the northwest corner
of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leorns Boulevard
and Pacific Boul evard. and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall
of the City of Vernon~ located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said City.
SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be
not less than ten.(10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed
work. The notice shall distinctly state the materials to be furnished and
the work to be done.
SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernonshall
certify to the passage of this Resolution~ and thereupon and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.

NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR
BIDS FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF VERNON
AVENUE FROM SOTO STREET TO DOWNEY
ROAD. IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT
NO. 235 OF THE CITY OF. VERNON
5 Pursuant to Resolution No. 2326 of the City of Vernon~ adopted on
6 the 15th day of March~ 1960, directing same~ notice is hereby given that
7 sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon# California"
8 at the office of the City Clerk of said City, at the City Ha11# 4305 Santa Fe
9 Avenue" until the hour of two (2) otclock P. M., on the 5th day of April, 1960#
10 for reconstruction of Vernon Avenue from Soto Street to Downey Road, in
11 accordance with Contract No. 235 approved by said City. The proposals
12 will be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of the City Hall
13 located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue~ Vernon. California" on the date and at the
14 time above mentioned. Specifications and contract documents may be
15 obtained at the above-mentioned office of the City Clerk upon pay.ment of a
16 deposit of ten dollars ($10. 00) for each specification.
17 The construction to be done and materials to be furnished under said
18 Contract No. 235 are approximately as follows:

19 The construction shall be in accordance with Plan No. A3-1544 and
20 Contract No. 235 heretofore approved by the City Council of said City~ and
21 now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City # a copy of which may be
22 secured from the City Engineer of said City.
23 Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the provisions of
24 Sections 1770-1781# inclusive, Labor Code of California, the City Council of
25 the City of Vernon ha.s ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem
26 wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality in which
0( 27 this work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic

:J California, it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the Contract is

1 awarded. and upon any sub -contractor under him# to pay to all laborers.
2 workmen or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the Contract
3 not less than the said specified rates~ which rates shall be included in the
4 Contract to the successful bidder.
5 Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with their
6 bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility# technical ability
7 and experience. Such sworn statement may be required to be furnished
8 before award is made to any particular bidder.
9 To be entitled to consideration, each bid submitted pursuant to this
10 notice shall be made onion a form to be obtained at the Office of the City
11 Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check., draft or bid bond,
12 payable at a bank .authorized to do business in the State of California# made
13 payable at sight to the City Clerk of the Gity of Vernon# in amount equal to
14 ten per cent (10%) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the City Clerk of
15 the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at. or before, the time stated herein,
16 and must be plainly marked If Proposal for Reconstruction of Vernon Avenue
17 From Soto Street to Downe;r Road. Contract No. 235. II
18 The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee
19 that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and wi11 be de-
20 clared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a
21 contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk
22 of the City of Vernon, California. The successful bidder will be required

to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per cent (50%)
of the Contract price~ and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to
one hundred per cent (100%) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law# no bidder may withdraw his bid
for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of ten. dollars ($10. 00) win be required to secure the Plans
and Specifications~ as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications will be
returned# which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned to the
City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) hours after the bids on
