Pursuant to Resolutlon No. 2358 of the City of Vernon" adopted on
the 19th day-of July.. 1960~ directing same" notice is hereby given that sealed
proposal's "Or bids will be received by the City of Vernon" California~ at the

until th:e hour of two (2:) p.cClo"ck p..M. ..on the. 2nd day of August" 1960" for
the installationp.f traffic signals at the inte.rr:rection of Sattta Fe Avenue .and
55th Street" in accordance with Contract No.. 245 .approved by$.raid City.
The proposals will be publicly opened and read in the CouncU Ch:ambersof
the City H:alllocated at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue" Vernon" California.. on the
date and at the time above mentioned. Sp"ecificatiplts and contract decuments
may b.eobtainedat the above mentioned pftice of the City Clerk llpo:n payment
of a dep"ositof ten Qollars ($10.. OO) for each specification.

Sections. 1770-1781" inclusive" Labor Codeef California" the City Council

NoUce is also hereby given that" pursuant to said Labor Code of
California" itslt.all be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract
is awarded" and upon any subcontractor under him" to pay all laborers"
workmen" or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract
not less than the. said sp.ecified rates" which rates shall he included in the
contract to the succes.sful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with
tlteir bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility" technical
ability and. experience. Such sworn statem.ent may he required before
award ia made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled toconsideration~ each bid submitted pursuant to
this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of. the
City Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified .check. draft or bid bond"
payable at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California" made
payable at sight to the City Clerk of the CUyof Vernon. in amount equal to
t.en percent (10~) of the bid submitted# .shall be delivered to the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at# or before" the time stated
herein" and must be plainly marked "Propo.sal for Contract Ntt.245".
The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given asa guarantee
that tn.e bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to .himand will be
declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into
a contract of the required form after being requested to do .s.o hy the City
Clerk of the City of Vernon. California. The successful bidder will be
required to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty
percent (50o/.}of the Contract price" and a faithful perfo.rmance bond in an
amount equal to one hundred per cent (10 0 'Y.)of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law" no bidder may withdraw his bid
fora period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
