5 Pursuant to Resolution No. 2361 of the City of Vernon... adopted on
6 the 2nd day of August" 1960" directing same. notice is hereby giventhat
7 sealed proposala or bids will be received by the City of Vernon" California"
8 at the office of the City Clerk of said City" at the City Han" 4305 Santa. Fe
9 Avenue... until the hour of two. (2) otclock P. M.... on the 16th day of August"
10 1~60" for the installation of traffic signals: at the inters:ection of Downey Road
11 and Fruitland Avenue" in accordance with Contract No. 243 approved by said
12 City. The propo.sals win be publicly opened and read in the Council Chamber
13 of the City Hall located at 4305. Santa: Fe Avenue" Vernon... California" on the
14 date and at the time above mentioned. Specifications and contract documents
:rmy be obtained at the above-mentioned office of the City Clerk upon paymen.t
ofa deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) for each specification.
The construcUonto be done and materials: to be furnished under said
Contract No. 243 areapproxim.ately as f OnOW5:
Furnish and instal1 traffic signals:" controller with railroad
preemptor" make service and preemption connections... and
all appurtenant work at the intersection as shown on Plan
No. TV 6002.
The constructions:hall be in accordance with Plan: No. TV 6.002 an:d
Contract No. 243" heretofore approved by the City Council of said City... and
now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City... a copy of which may
be secured from the City Engineer of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that" pursuant to the provis:ions of Sectio s
177o-17fn" inclusive~Labor Code of California" the City Council of the City
of Vernon has ascert.ainedthe general prevailing rate or per diem wages and
rates for legal holidays and o.ver-time work in the locality in which this work
is to be performed" for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to.
execute the contract which will be awarded to. the successful bidder. and that

1 the Resolution establishing these prevailing rates is on file with the City
2 Clerk of the City of Vernon.
3 Notice is,- :a;'lso hereby given that" pursuant to said Labor Code of
4 Califorrlial it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract
5 is awarded" and upon any subcontractor undeJ;' him" to pay all laborers"
6 workmen" or mechanicS' employed by them in the execution of the contract
7 not less than the said specified rates" which rates shall be included in the
8 contract to the successful bidder.
9 Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with their
1 0 bids a. sworn statement of their financial res:ponsibility. technical abiIityand
11 experience. Such sworn statement may be requir-ed before award is' made
12 to any particular bidder.
13 To be entitled to consideration.. each bid submitted pursuant to thi.s
14 notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the City
15 Engineer; shall be accompanied bya certified check. draft or bid bond"

The successful bidder wUl be required
to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per cent (500/0)
of the Contract price" and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal
to one hundred per cent (1000/0) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law" no bidder may withdraw his bid
for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of ten dollars ($10. 00) will be required to secure the
Plans and Sp.ecifications" as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications
