A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY. COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
3 .DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALE.D PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR THE.CONSTRUCTION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS. FACILITY
4 IN THE CITY OF VERNON.. IN ACCORDANCE WlTHCONTR.ACTNO. 248.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
8 directed t 0 give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the construction
9 of the Public Works Facility in accordance with Contract No. 248. and the
10 Notice In:viting Sealed Proposals contained in said Contract No. 248.

SECTIONZ:
There being no newspaper of general circula-
12 tion printed~ publisheaand circulated in the City of Vernon" the City Clerk
13 is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the same to be posted~ in
14 three (S) of the most public places in said City", to wit: the northwest
15 corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis
16 Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard. and on the bulletin board in the lObby of
17 the City Hall of the City of Vernon. located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said
18 City.

SECTIONS:
The first posting of said notice shall be not
20 less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed work.
21 The notice shall distinctly state the materials to be furnished and the work
22 to be done.

SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
24 certify to the passage of this Resolution" and thereupon and thereafter the
25 same s:hall be in full force and effect.
26 ADOPTED and APPROVED this 6th day of September" 1960.

NOTICE INVITING. SEALED PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE
CITY OF VERNON PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY..
IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 248
OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 2382 of the City of Vernon" adopted
on the 6th day of September" 1960" directing same. notice is hereby given
that sealed proposals ,or bids will be received by the City of Vernon"
California" at the office of the City Clerk of said, City" at the City Hall.
4305 Santa Fe Avenue" until the hour of two (2) o'clock p. m." on the &th
day of October" 196.0". for construction of the City of Vernon Public Works
Facility" in accordance with Contract No. 248 approved by said City. The
proposals will be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of the
City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue" Vernon" California" on the date
and at the time above mentioned. Specifications and contract documents
may be obtained at the above-mentioned office of the City Clerk upon pay-
ment of a deposit of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for each set of plans and
specifications .
The constrtl.ction shall be in accordan.ce with Plans and Specifica-
tions for the City of VerttonPublic Works Facility and Contract No. 248
heretofore approved by the City Council of said City. and now on file in the
office if the City Cle.rk of said City" a copy of which may be secured from
the City Engineer of said City.
Bidders are her-eby notified that" pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781" inclusive, Labor Code of California" the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem
wages and rates for legal holidays and over-timework in the: locality in
which this work is to be performed" for each. craft or type of workman or
mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the: succeSfJf-
ful bidder. and that the Resolution establishing these prevailing rates is on
file with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that" pursuant to said Labor- Code of
California" it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the Contract

is awar-ded"and \lpon any subcontractor under him" to pay to all1aborers,
workmen or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the Contract
not les:s than the said specified rates, which rates shalt be included in the
Contract to the succeS"sful bidder.
N otic.e is further hereby given that an bidders may submit with
their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility" technical
ability and experi ence. Such sworn statement may be required to be fur-
nished before award is. made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to conslderation" each bid submitted pursuant to this
notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the City
Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check" draft or bid bond" pay-
able at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California.. made pay-
able at s:ight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon. in amount equal to ten
per cent (l(}%) of the bid submitted" shall be delivered to the City Clerk of
the City of Ver-non in a sealed envelope at" or before, the time stated herein"
and must be plain:1y marked I1Proposal for Contract No. 248".
The "above-mentioned check or bond shall be given asa guarantee
that the bidder will enter info a contract if awarded to him and will be declar
forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter info a contract
of the required form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk of the
City of Vernon" California. The successful bidder wiUbe required to furnish
a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per cent (50%) of the
Contract price. and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to one
hundred per cent (100%) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law" no bidder may withdraw his bid
for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of twenty-five dollars ($25. 00) will be required to secure
the Plans 'and Specificatlons" as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications
will be returned, which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned
to the City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) hours after the
bids on the work will have been opened.
