A Q$OLtrr'ION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR
BIDS FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF BOYLE AVENUE FROM VERNON AVENUE
TO LEONI$ BOULEV ARD#IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 249
OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL 'OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
The CityCle.rk of the City.of Vernon is:
8 hereby directed to give notice inviting . sealed prop.osa1s or bids for the
9 reconstruciion of Boyle Avenue from Vertton Avenue to Leonis Boulevard..
10 inaccOro.ance with Contract No. 249 and Plan No. A3-1578.. and the Notice
11 Inviting Sealed Proposals contained in said Contract No. 249.

SECTION 2:
There being no newspaper of general circula-
13 tion printed.. published and circulated in the City of Vernon.. the City Clerk
14 is hereby directed to post said notice.. or cause the same to be posted, in
15 three (3;) of the most public places In said City.. to wit: at th.e north.west
16 corner of 38tb. Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the north.east corner of Leonis:
17 Boulevard and Pacifi.cBou.levard.andon the bulletin board in the lobby of
18 the City Hall of the City of Vernon. lOBated at 4305Santa Fe Avenue in said
19 City.

The first posting of said notice shall be not
21 less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed work.

be secured fro.m th.e City Engineer of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that. pursuant to. the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781.. inclusive. Labor Code of California. the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained tl1e general prevailing rate of perdl:em
wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality in
wl1ich this work is to be performed.. for each craft or typeo.f workman or
mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the
successful bidder ..and that the Resolution establishing these prevailing
rates lson fUe with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
No.tice is also hereby given that, pursuant to. said Labor Co.de of
California, it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whcam thecontraet
is awarded.. and upon any subcOntractor under him, to pay a1llaborers.,
workm:en.or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract

ability and experience. Such sworn statement may be required bef"Ore
award is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration.. each bid submitted pursuant t() this
notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the. City
Engineer; sb.a1l be accompanied by acert.ified check.. draft or bid bond..
pay-able at a b.ankauthorized to do business in the State of Callfornia..made
payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.. in amount equal
to ten p-er cent (10~) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the City
Clerko.f the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at.. or before.. the time
stated herein, and must be plainly marked "Proposal for Contract No. 249".
The above-menti<>ned check or bond shall. be given as a guarantee
tnat the bidder will enter into a contract ifaw.arded to him and will be
declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses. or neglects to enter into
a contract of the required farm after being requested to do sa .~ the City
Clerk .of the City of Vernon.. Califarnia. The successful bidder will be
required W furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty
percent (501-) of the Contract price.. and a faithful performance bond in
an amount equal to' one hundred per cent (1001e) of .theContract price.
Unles.sotherwise required by law, .llO bidder may withdraw his bid
fora period of thirty (30) days after the da.teset for the opening thereof.
A depo.$itc>f ten dollars ($IO. OO) will be required to secure the
Plans and Specifications.. as a guarantee that th'e plans and$pe.cifica.tions
will be returned.. which. deposit will be refunded incase same are
returned to the City in good conditiOn not later than farty-eight (48) hour.
after the bids on the work will have been opened.
