A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR THE GONS'rRUCTIONOF A 750, 000 GALLON ELEVATED
WATER TANK, IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. .253 OF TJiE
CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOL YES .AS FOLLOWS;
SECTION 1:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
7 hereby directed to give notice inviting .sealed proposals or bids for the
8 construction of a 750,000 gallon elevated water tank, in accordance- with
9 Contract No. 253, and the Notice InvitiIIg Sealed Proposals contained in
10 said Contract No. 253.

Uonprinted.. published and circulated in the City of Vernon.. the City Clerk
is hereby direet~ to post said notice, or cause the same to be posted, in
three (3Jof tl're most public places in said City, to wit; the northwest

Boulevard .and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of
the City R.allof the City of Vernon.. located at 4.3.05 Santa Fe Avenue in said
City.
SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be not
less than t.en (10) days before .the date of opening bids for the proposed work.
The notice shall distinctly state the materials to be furnished and the work
ta be done.
SECTION 4:
The CttyClerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the pasaage ofthts. Resolution, and thereupon .and the reafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 7th day of March, 1961.

NonCE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 750,000 GALLON
ELEVATED WATER TANK, IN ACCORDANCE WITH
CONTRACT NO. 253 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 2417 of the City of Vernon, adopted on
the 7th day of March~ 1961~ notice is hereby given that sealed proposals
or bids will be received by the City of Vernon~ California~ at the .office of
the CityClerk~at the CityHall~ 4305 Santa Fe Avenue~ until the hour of
two. (2). o'clock p. M., on the 18th day of April~ 1961~ fo.r the construction
o.f an elevated water tank behind the City of Vernon FireStatio.n No. 3~
in accordance with Contract No. 253 approved by said City. The proposals
will be publicly opened and read in the. Council Chambers of theCtty Hall
on the date and at the time mentioned above. Specificatio.ns and Contract
Documents may be obtained at the offtceof the City Clerk upon payment
of a deposit of ten do.llars($10. 00) for eachspeeification.
The construction to be done and materials to be furnished under
said Contract No. 253 are approx:imately as follows:
Construction of a 750~ 000 gallon elevated water tank~complete,
in:clud iug foundations, testtngand painting.
The design and construction shall be in accordance with Contract
No. 253~ heretofore approved by the VernonCtty Council~ and now on file
in the office of the City. Clerk~ a copy of which may be obtained from the
City Engineer.
Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781, inclustve~ Labor Code of California. the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general preva.iIingrateof per
diem wages' and rates for legal holiday.a.nd over-time. work in th~ lo.critlity
in which this work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman
or mechanic needed to ex:ecute the contract which will be awarded to the
successful bidder, and that theR.esolution establishing these prevailing
rates is on fUe with the City Clerk of the Cttyof Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that~ pursuant to said Labor Code of
Californta~ it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract

award is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled toconsideration~ each bid submitted pursuant tothts
notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the City
Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check~ draft ():r bid bond~
payable at a bank authorized to do business in the State ofCalifO'rnia~ made
payable at sight to. theCttyClerk O'f the City of Vernon~ inam'Ount equal to
ten per cent (1 0%) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the City. Clerk
of the City of Vernon in aseaIedenvelopeat~ or before, the tim.estated
herein~ and must be plainly marked "Proposal for Contract NO'. 253".
The above -mentiO'ned. check or bo.nd. .shall be given as a guarantee
that th.e bidder will enter into a contract if awa:rded to him and will be
declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to' enter into
. a contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City
Clerk of the Cityef Vernon, Ca.1ifornta.The successful bidder will be
required to' furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty
per cent ( 50%) O'f th.:e Contract price~ and a faithful performance bond in an
amount equal to one hundred per cent (100'0) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law~ no bidder may withdraw his
bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of ten dollars ($10. OO} will be required to secure the
Plans and Spe.cificationa, as a guarantee that the Pla.ns and Specifications
will be returned, which deposit will be refunded incase same are returned
to the City in good conditien net later than ferty-eigl1t(48~ hours after the
bids on the work will have been opened..~
