A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF VERNON
DIRECTING THE dIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF WELL NUMBER 14.. IN ACCORD-
ANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 255 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VE.RNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
hereby directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals. or bids fer the
construction of Well Number 14, in accordance with Contract No. 255, and
the Notice Inviting .Sealed Proposals contained in said Contract No. 255;
SECTION 2:
There being no newspaper of general circula-
tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk
is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the same to be posted, in
three (3~ of the most public places in said City, to wit: the northwest
corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeas.t corner of Leonfs
Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of
the City Hall of the City of Vernon. lo<<atedat 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said
City.
SECTION ,3:
The first posting of said notice shall be not

less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed work.
The notice shaIl distinctly state the m,ate rials to be furnished and the work
to be done.

certify to the passage of this Resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the

Avenue" Vernon# California# on the date and at thettme above mentioned.
Specifications and contract documents may be obtained at the above-
mentioned office of th~ City Clerk upon payment of a deposit of ten dollars
($10.00) for each specification.
The construction to be done and materials to be furnished under
said Contract No. 255 are approximately as follows:
Drill a pilot hole to 2500 feet and electric log, enlarge the upper
500 feet 36 inches and install 30 inch casing, enlarge the lower hole to
30 inches and install perforated 18 inch and 14 inch :casing, gravel pack,
develop" and test the well.
The construction shall be inaccordattce with Contract No. 255
heretofore approved by the CityCouncil0f said City.. and new on file in
the office of the City Clerk of said City# a copy of which maybe secured
from.the City. Engineer of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that# p1.lrsuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770...1781, inclusive. Labor Code of California, the City.Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per
diem wages and rates for legal holidays and over...ttme work in the lOccality
in whichthts work is t~l be performed, for each craft or type of workman
or mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the

California, ttshaIl be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom thecontracCt is
awarded, and upon any subcontractor under him" to pay all laborers" work-
men" or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contra.ct not. less
than the said specified rates, which rates shall be included in the contract to
the successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may, submit with their
bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility, technicalabiltty and
experience. Such .sW'ornstatement may be required before award is made to
any particular bidder.

The above mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee
that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be declared

of the required form after being requested to do sa by the City Clerk of the
City of Vernon,CalifO'rnia.
The successful bidder will be required to
furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to' fifty per cent (50~)
of the Contract price, and a faithful perfor~. bond, in an amount equal to
.one hundred per cent (100'-) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law, no bidder may withdraw his bid
for a period of thirty' (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
