A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VER.NON
3 DffiECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PR.OPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR THE RESURFACING OF SQTO S'I'ltEET FROM NORTH
4 BOUNDARY TO LOS ANGELES RIVER BRIDGE.. IN THE .,CITY OF VERNON.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
8 directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for thecv.e.m.tr.facingl
9 of Solo Street from North Boundary to Los Angeles River Bridge in accordance
10 with Contract No. .257, and the Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals contained
11 in said Contract No. 257-.;

SECTION 2:
There being no newspaper of general circu.la-
13 tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk
14 is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the same to be posted, in
15 three (3) of the most public places in said City, to wit: the northwest
16 corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leoms
17 Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of
18 the City Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said
19 City.

SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be not
less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed work.
The notice shall distinctly state the materials to be furnished and the work
to be done.
SECTION. 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 257 OF THE
CITY OF VERNON.
5 Pursuant to Resolution No. 2429 of the City of Vernon. adopted on
6 the 16th day of May. 1961. directing same. n'Otice is hereby given that sealed
7 prGposalsor bids will be received by the City of Vernon. California. at the
8 office of the City Clerk of said City. at the City Hall. 4305 Santa Fe Avenue.
9 until the hour of two (2) o'clock P. M.. on the 6th day of June" 1961" for re-
10 surfacing of Soto Street from North City Boundary toL.A. River Bridge in
11 accordance with Contract No. 257 approved by said City. The proposals will
12 be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of the City Hall located
13 at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue. Vernon. California, on the date and at the time
14 above mentioned. Specifications and contract documents m.ay be obtained at
15 theabove-mentione.d office of the City Clerk upon payment of a deposit of ten
16 dollars ($10. (0) for each specification.
17 The construction to be done and materials to be furnished under
18 said Contra.ct No. 257 are approximately as follOWS:

Contract No. 257 heretofore approved by the City Council of said City" and
now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City" a copy ofwhlch m,ay be
secured from the City Engineer of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that" pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770..1781" inclusive. Labor Code of California" the City Council of

1 the City of Vernon. has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem
2 wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality in which
3 this work is to he performed, for each craft or type of workm.an or mechanic
4 needed to execute the contract which will he awarqed 10 the successful bidder,
5 and that the Re$ olution establishing these prevailing rates is on file with the
6 City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
7 Notice is also hereby given that, pursuant to said Labor Code of
8 California, it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contra.ct
9 is awarded, and upon any subcontractor under him, to pay all laborers, work-
10 men, or mechanics employed by them in the execution 'Of the contract not less
11 than the said specified rates, which rates shall be included in the contract to
12 the successful bidder.
13 Notice is further h.ereby given that all bidders may submit with their
14 bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility, technical ability and
15 experience. Such sworn statement may be required before award is made to
16 any particular bidder.
17 TQ be entitled to consideration,each bid submitted pursuant to this
18 notice shall be m.ade out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the City
19 Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check.. draft or bid bond, pay-
20 able at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California, made payabl
21 at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, in amount equal to ten per cent
22 (1 0%) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the City Clerk of the City of
23 Vernon in a sealed envelope at, or before, the time stated herein, and must be
24 plainly marked IIproposal for Contract No. 25711.
25 The above--menti'Oned check or bond shall be given as a gua.rantee that
26 the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be declared

1 Unless otherwise required by law I no bidder may withdraw his bid
2 for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
3 A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to ,secure the Plans.
4 and Specifications ~as a guarantee that the Plansa:nd Specifications will be
5 returnedl which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned to the
6 City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) hours after the bids on
7 the work will have been opened.
8 The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all bids or
9 waive any informality in the bid.
