RESOLUTION NO. 2467
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
3 REQUESTING THE POSTMASTER GENERAL TO ESTABLISH A POST-
OFFICE IN THE CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS~ the City of Vernon~ California~ is now served
by a branch of the Los Angeles postoffice; and
WHEREAS. approximately 70.000 people are employed within
the City limits of the City of Vernon; and
WHEREAS~ the needs of industry situated within the City of
Vernon require separate postal facilities as shown by differential in postal
receipts from the year 1926. which were approximately $8~ 000.00. to the
year 1960 which were approximately $l~ 700~ 000.00;
NOW.. THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
The City Council of the City of Vernon~
California. on behalf of the industrialists and taxpayers of the City~ hereby
respectfully request that Postmaster General J. Edward Day establish a
post office in the City of Vernon.
SECTION 2:
The City Clerk is hereby requested to
send copies of this resolution to Congressman Clyde Doyle~ Senator Thomas
H. Kuchel and Postmaster General J. Edward Day.
SECT ION 3:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
hereby directed to certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon
and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 18th day of July~ 1961.
