A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE .INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR THE FIRE STATION NO.2 AND COMMUNICATIONS
BUILDING. IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS NO. 258 OF
THE CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
The City Cle rk .of the City .of Vern.on is
hereby directed t.o give n.otice inviting sealed pr.oposals .or bids f.or the Fire
Stati.on N.o.2 and Communicati.ons Building~ in acc.ordance with Specificat i.ons
N.o. 258~ and the N.otice Inviting Sealed Pr.oposals cont.ained in said
Specificati.ons No. 258.
SECTION 2:
There being n.o newspaper of general
circulati.on printed~ published and circulated in the City .of Vernon. the City
Clerk is hereby directed t.o post said notice~ .or cause the same to be posted..
in three (3) .of the m.ost public places in said City~ t.o wit: the northwest
c.orner .of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the n.ortheast corner .of Leonis
.Boulevard and Pacific B.oulevard~ and .on the bulletin b.oard in the l.obby .of
the City Hall .of the City .of Vern.on~ l.ocated at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in
said City.
SECTION 3:
The first p.osting of said n.otice shall be n.ot
less than ten (10) days bef.ore the date .of .opening bids f.or the pr.oposed w.ork.
The n.otice shall distinctly state the materials to be furnished and the work
t.o be d.one.
SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vern.on shall
certify t.o the pass.age .of this Resoluti.on.. and thereupon and thereafter the
same shall be in full f.orce and effect.

5 Pursuant to Resolution No. 2477 of the City of Vernon~ adopted
6 on the 15th day of August~ 1961~ directing same~ notice is hereby given that
7 sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon~ California..
8 at the office of the City Clerk of said City~ at the City Hall.. 4305 Santa Fe
9 Avenue~ until the hour of two (2) o'clock p. M., P.D. S. T... on the 19th
10 d.ay of September.. 1961~ for the Fire Station No. 2 and Communications
11 Building in accordance with Specifications No. 258 approved by said City.
12 The proposals will be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of
13 the City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue.. Vernon.. California.. on the
14 date and at the time above mentioned. Contract drawings and specifications

may be obtained at the above mentioned office of the City Clerk upon payment
of a deposit of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for each set.
The construction shall be in accordance with Plans. No. B14-1594
and Specifications No. 258 heretofore approved by the City Council of said
City~ and now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City~ copy of
which may be secured from the City Engineer of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that~ pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781.. inclusive.. Labor Code of California.. the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per
diem wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality
in which this work is to be performed.. for each craft or type of workman
or .mech.anic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded .to the
successful bidder~ and that the Resolution establishing these prevailing rates
is on file with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that~ pursuant to said Labor Code of
California~ it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract
is aw arded~ and upon any subcontractor under him.. to pay to all laborers..
workmen or machanics employed by them in the execution of the contract

not less than the said specified rates~ which rates shall be included in the
contract to the successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with
their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility~ technical
ability and experience. Such sworn statement may be required to be
furnished before award is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration~ each bid submitted pursuant to
this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Offices of the
City Engineers; shall be accompanied by a certified checkll draft or bid bond..
payable at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California~ made
payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon~ in amount equal to
ten per cent (10%) of the bid submitted~ shall be d.elivered to the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon iua sealed envelope at.. or before~ the time stated
he rein.. and must be plainly marked "proposal for Fire Station No. 2. and
Communications Building.. City of Vernon~ California. II
The above mentioned check. or bond shall be given as a guarantee
that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be
declared forefeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into
a contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City
Clerk of the City of Vernon.. California. The successful bidder will be
required to furnish a labor and material bondin an amount equal to fifty per
cent (500/0) of the Contract price~ and a faithful performance bond in an
amount equal to one hundred per cent (1000/0.) of the contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law.. no bidder may withdraw his
bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of b.venty-five dollars ($25.00) will be required to
secure the Plans and Specifications~ as a guarantee that the Plans and
Specifications will be returned~ which deposit will he refunded in case same
are returned to the City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48)
hours after the bills on the work will have been opened.
