RESOLUTION NO. 2490
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
DlRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR FURNISHING TWO DUMP TRUCKS~ IN ACCORDANCE
WITH CONTRACT NO. 268 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the furnishing
of two dump trucks in accordance with Contract No. 268" and the Notice
Inviting Sealed Proposals contained in said Contract No. 268.
SECTION 2:
There being no new spaper of general circula-
tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk
is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the same to he posted" in
three (3) of the most public places in said City~ to wi t: at the northwest
corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; at the northeast corner of
Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard" and on the bulletin board in the
lobby of the City Hall of the City of Vernon~ located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue
in said City.
SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be not
less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed
equipment. The notice shall distinctly state the equipment to be purchased.
SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution" and thereupon and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 19th day of September" 1961.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 268
OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
5 Pursuant to Resolution No. 2490 of the City of Vernon" adopted
6 on the 19th day of September" 1961" directing same, notice is hereby given
7 that sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon"
8 California" at the office of the City Clerk of said City, at the City Hall"
9 4305 Santa Fe Avenue" until the hour of two (2) o'clock P. M. ~ on the 3rd day
10 of October, 1961" for furnishing two dump trucks" in accordance with
11 Contract No. 268 approved by said City. The proposals will be publicly
12 opened and read in the Council Chambers of the City Hall located at 4305
13 Santa Fe Avenue" Vernon" California~on the date and at the time above
14 mentioned. Specifications and coni: ract documents may be obtained at

the above-mentioned office of th.e City Clerk upon payment of a. deposit of ten
dollars ($10.00) for each specification.
The construction shall be in accordance with Contract No. 268
heretofore approved by the City Council of said City, and now on file in the
office of the City Clerk of said City~ a copy of which may be obtained from
the City Engineer of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the proviSions of
Sections 1770-1781" inclusive, Labor Code of California" the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem
wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality in
which this work is to be performed~ for each craft or type of workman or
mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the
successful bidder" and that the Resolution establishing these prevailing rates
is on file with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that~ pursuant to said Labor Code of
California~ it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract
is awarded" and upon any subcontractor under him" to pay all laborers"
workmen" or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract

not less than the said specified rates" which rates shall be included in the
contract to the successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with
their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility~ technic.a1
ability and experience. Such sw orn statement may be required before
award is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration~ each bid submitted pursuant to
this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the
City Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check" draft or bid bond"
payable at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California" made
payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon" in amount equal
to ten per cent (10%} of the bid submitted" shall be delivered to the City
Clerk of the City of Vernon in a sealed. envelope at" or before, the time
stated herein, and must be plainly marked "Proposal for Contract No. 268".
The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee
that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be
declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into
a contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City
Clerk of the City of Vernon, California. The successful bidder will be
required to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty
per cent (50%) of the Contract price~ and a faithful performance bond in an
amount equal to one hundred per cent (100%) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law" no bidder may withdraw his
bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to secure the
Plans and Specifications" as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications
will be returned~ which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned
to the City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) hours after the
bids on the work will have been opened.
