RESOLUTION NO. 2'500
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PRQPOSAI$
OR BIDS FOR THE FIRE STATION NO. 2 AND COMMUNICATIONS
BUILDING.. IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS NO. 258 OF THE
CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
hereby directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the Fire
Station No. 2 and Communications Building, in accordance with Specifications
No. 258" and the Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals contained in said Specifica-
tions. No" 258.
SECTION 2:
There being no newspaper ofgeneralcircula-
tion printed" published and circulated in the City of Vernon" the City Clerk
is hereby directed to post said notice~ or cause the same to be posted, in
three (3) of the most public places in said City" to wit: the northwest corner
.of 38th Street and Santa ,Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard
and Pacific Boulevard" and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall
of the City of Vernon" located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said City.
SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be not
les.s than ten (10) days before the date of op.ening bids for the proposed work.
The notice shall distinctly state the materials to be furnished and the work
to be done.
SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution" and thereupon and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.

NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR
BIDS FOR THE FIRE STATION NO. 2 AND
COMMUNICATIONS BUILDING~ IN ACCORD-
ANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS NO. 258 OF
THE CITY OF VERNON.
5 Pursuant to Resolution No. 2500 of the City of Vernon.. adopted on
6 the 17th day of October" 1961, directing same" notice is hereby given that
7 sealed prop.osals .or bids will be received by the City of Vernon" California,
8 at the office .of the City Clerk of said City~ at the City Hall~ 4305 Santa Fe
Avenue" until the hour of two (2}0'clock p. m. ,on the 7th
day of
November
~ 1961~ for the Fire Station No.2 and Communications
Building inacc.ordance with Specifications No. 258 approved by said City.
The proposals will be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of
the City Halll.ocated at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue~ Vernon, California., on the
date and at the time ab.ove mentioned. Contract drawings and specifications
may be obtained at the above menti.oned office of the City Clerk upon payment
of a dep.osit of twenty-five dollars {$25. OO} for each set.
The construction shall be in accordance with Plans No. B14-1594
and Specifications No. 258 heretofore approved by the City Council of said
City" and n.ow on file in the .office of the City Clerk .of said City" c.opy.of
which may be secured from the City :Engineer of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that" pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781" inclusive" Labor Code of California, the City Council
of the City of Vern.on has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per
diem wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality
in which this work is to be performed~ for each craft or type of workman
.or mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the
successful bidder" and that the Resolution establishing these prevailing rate.s
is on file with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that, pursuant to said Labor Code of
California" it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract
is awarded~ and upon any subcontractor under him, to pay toalllaborers~
workmen or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract

not less than theaaid specified rates, which rates shall be included in the
contract to the successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with
their bids a sw orn statement of their financial res.ponsibility~ technical
ability and experience. Such sw ornstatement may be required to be
furnished before award is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitleq toconsideration~ each bid submitted pursuant to
this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Offices of the
City Engineers; shall be accompanied by a certified ceheck" draft or bid bond,
payable at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California, :made
payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, in amount equal to
ten per cent (100/0) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to th.e City Clerk
of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at, or before, the time stated
herein" and mu.st be plainly marked "Proposal for Fire Station No.2 and
Communic.ations Building" City of Vernon" Californian.
The above mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee
that the bidder will enter into.a contract if awarded to him and will be
declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into
a contract of the required form after being requested to do So by the City
Clerk of the City of Vernon, California. The successful bidder will be
required to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per
cent (500/0) of the Contract price, and a faithful performance bond in an
amount equal to one hundred per cent (100%) of the contract price.
Unless otherw ise required by law, no bidder may withdraw his
bid fora period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) will be required to secure
the Plans and .Specifications, as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications
will be returned, which deposit will be refunded incase same are returned
to the City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) hours after the
bids on the work w ill have been opened.
