2514
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITy OF VERNON
ACCEPTING THE BID OF GEORGE MILLER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SANITARY SEWER IN SANTA FE AVENUE
FROM 57TH ST.REET TO SLAUSON AVENUE" IN ACCORDANCE WITH
CONTRACT NO. 272 OF SAID CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, Contract No. 272 was approved by the City Council of the
City of Vernon by Resolution No. 2502, and pursuant thereto sealed bids were
opened on November 21, 1961; and
WHEREAS, said bids were referred to Arthur E. Nelson, Jr., City
Engineer, who has reported to the City Council under date of December 5,1961,
recommending that a contract be awarded to George Miller Construction Com-
pany, for the sum of $15, 781.25, it being the lowest bid received meeting the
contract requirements;
NOW" THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
That the City Council of the City of Vernon does
hereby award the contract in accordance with the recommendation of Arthur E.
Nelson, Jr., City Engineer, and authorizes the execution of a contract with
George Miller Construction Company for the construction of a sanitary sewer
in Santa Fe Avenue from 57th Street to Slauson Avenue, in accordance with
Contract No. 272 heretofore approved by the City Council.
SECTION 2.:
That this acceptance by the City Council of the City
of Vernon in no way is to be deemed a waiver of its rights accruing under the
previously submitted bid of the George Miller Construction Company.
SECTION 3:
That all other bids are rejected~ and the City Clerk
is hereby instructed and directed to return all checks or drafts to unsuccessfUl
bidders.
SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify
to the passage of this Resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
