A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
ORBtDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT THE INTERSECTION
OF SANTA FE AVENUE AND FRUITLAND AVENUE. IN ACCORDANCE
WITH CONTRACT NO. 280 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
he City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
g sealed proposals or bids for traffic signal
7 directed
8 installation at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Fruitland Avenue, in
9 accordance with Contract No. 280, and the Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals
10 contained in said Contract No. 280.
SECTION 2:
There being no newspaper of general circulation
printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is
h,ereby directed to post said notice, or cause Ute same to be posted, in
three (3) of the most public places in said City, to wit: the northwest corner
of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard
and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall
of the City of Vernon. located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said City.
SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be not less
than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed work.
The notice shall distinctly state the materials to be furnished and the work
to be done.
SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution. and thereupon and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED ,and APPROVED this 17th day of April, 1962.

NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR
BIDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION
AT THE INTERSECTION OF SANTA FE AVENUE
AND FRUITLAND AVENUE, IN ACCORDANCE
WITH CONTRACT NO. 280 OF THE CITY OF
VERNON.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 2547 of the City of Vernon, adopted
on the 17th day of April, 1962, directing same, notice is hereby given that
sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon, California,
at the office of the City Clerk of said City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe
Avenue, until the hour of two (2) o'clock P.M., on the 1st day of May, 1962,
for traffic signal installation at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Fruit-
land Avenue, in accordance w Uh Contract No. 280 approved by said City.
The proposals w ill be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of
the City Hall located at 4305 Sant,a Fe Avenue, Vernon, Cal~rnia, on the
date and at the ti,me above mentioned. Specifications and contract documents
may be obtained at the above-mentioned office of the City Clerk upon payment
of a deposit of ten dollars ($10. OO) for each specification.
The construction to be done and materials to be furnished under
said Contract No. 280 are approximately as foUows:
Install signals, foundations, controller, cabinets, conduit,
conductors, detecto,rs and do all appurtenant work as shown on Plan No.
T 1655.
The construction shall be in accordance with Plan No. T 1655
and Contract No. 280 heretofore approved by the City Council of said City,
and now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, a copy of which
may be secured from the City Engineer of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781, inclusive, Labor Code of California, the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem
wages and rat.es for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality in
which this work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman or
mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the

1 successful bidder, and that the Resolution establishing these prevailing
2 rates is on file with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
3 Notice is also hereby given that, pursuant to said Labor Code of
4 I Calwrnia, it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract
5 is awarded, and upon any subcontractor under him, to pay all laborers,
6 workmen.. or .mechanicsemployed by them in the execution of the contra.ct
7 not less than the said specified rates.. which rates shall be included in the
8 contract to the succe.ssful bidder.
9 Notice is further herehy given that .all bidders may submit with
10 their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility, technical
11 abilityandexperience. Such sworn statement may be required before award
12 is made to any particular bidder.
13 To be entitled to consideration, each bid submitted pursuant to
14 this notice sh.all be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the
15 City Engineer; shall be accompanied by a .certified check, draft or bid
16 bond, payable at a bank authoriz.ed to do business in the State of California,
17 made payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, in amount
18 equal to ten per cent (10%) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the
19 City Clerk of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at, or before.. the time
20 stated therein.. and must be plainly.marked "Propos.al for Contract No. 28011.
21 The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee
22 that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be
23 declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into
24 a contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City
25 Clerk of the City of Vernon, California.. The successful bidder will be

required to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty
percent (50%f of the Contract price, and a. faithful performance bond in an
amount equal to one hundred per cent (1000/'0) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwiae required by law, no bidder may withdraw his bid
for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to secure the
Plans anq Specifications, as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications
