RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND STREET IMPROVEMENTS,
ATLANTIC BOULEVARD AT DISTRICT BOULEVARD, IN ACCORDANCE
WITH CONTRACT NO. 274 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
I,
5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
Tne City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for traffic signals
and street improvements, Atlantic Boulevard at District Boulevard, in
accordance with Contract No. 274, and the Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals
or BidscQntained in said Contract No. 274.
SECTION 2 :
There being no newspaper of generalcircula-
tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Vern,on, the City Clerk
is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the same to be posted, in
three (3) of the most public places in said City, to wit: the northwest corner
of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis Boule-
vard and Pacific Boulevard, aA.d on tne bulletin board in the lobby of the
City Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said
City.
SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be not
less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed work.
The notice shall distinctly state the materials to be furnished and the work
to be done.
SECTION 4:
,
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 15th day of May, 1962.

OR BIDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND
STREET IMPROVEMENTS, ATLANTIC
BOULEVARD AT DISTRICT BOULEVARD,
IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO.
274 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.

Pursuant to Resolution No. 2555 of the City of Vernon, adopted on
the 15th day of May, 1962, directing same, notice is hereby given that sealed
proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon, California, at the
office of the City Clerk of said City, at the City HaU, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue,
until the hour of two (2) o'clock p. M., on the 6th day of June, 1982, for
traffic signals and street improvements, Atlantic Boulevard at District
Boulevard, in accordance with Contract No. 274 approved by said City. The
proposals will be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of the
City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, California, on th.e date
and at the time above mentioned. Specifications and contract documents
may be obtained at the above...mentioned office of the City Clerk upon payment
of a deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) for each specification.
The construction to be done and materials to be furnished under
said Contract No. 274 are divided into the following schedules and are
approximated as foUow s:

A bidder may bid on any individual schedule or any combination
of schedules or he may qualify his bid in any way with respect to the COlll-
bination of schedules for which he will accept an award. A bid will not be
considered for less than all of the items in anyone .schedule.
The construction shall be in accordance with Plans Numbered
T-1647, P-1670. and Contract No. 274 heretofore approved by the City
Council of said City, and now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said
City, a copy of which may be secured from the City Engineer of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781, inclusive, Labor Code of California, the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem.
wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality in
which this work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman or

mechanic need.ed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the
successful bidder, .and that the Resolution establishing these prevailing rates
is on file with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that, pursuant to said Labor Code of
California, it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract
is awarded, and upon any subcontractor under him, to pay all laborers,
workmen, or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract
not less than the said specified rates, which rates shall be included in the
contract to the successful bidder.
Notice. is further hereby given that aU bidders may submit with
their bids a sw orn statement of their financial responsibility, technical
ability and experience. Such sworn statement may be required before award
is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration, each bid submitted pursuant to
this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the
City Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check. draft or bid bond,
payable at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California, made
payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, in amount equal to
ten per cent (10%) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at, or before. the time stated
herein, and must be plainly marked "Proposal for Contract No. 274".
The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given as. a guarantee
that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be
declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a
contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon, California. The successful bidder will be required to
furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per cent (500/0)
of the CO.ntract price, and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to
one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law, no bidder may withdraw his
bid for .a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.

The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all bids
o.r waive any info.rmality in the bid.
