A RESOLUTION OF THE. CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
DIRECTING THE GMNG OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT THE INTERSECTION
OF PACIFIC BOULEYARD AND FRUITLAND AVENUE. IN ACCORDANCE
WITH CONTRACT NO. 283 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
The City CIe rkof the City of Vern.on is hereby
directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for traffic signal
installation at the intersection of Pacific Boulevard and FruiUand Avenue, in
accordance with Contract No. 283 and the Notice Inviting ~ealed Proposals or
Bids contained in said Contract No. 283.
SECTION 2:
There beiag no newspaper of general circula-
tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk
is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the same to be posted, in
three (3) of the most public places in said City. to wit: the northwest corner
of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leoms Boule-
vard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the
City Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said
City.
SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be not
less th.an ten (10) days befCDTe the date of opening bids for the proposed work.
The notice shall distinctly state the materials to be furnished and the work
to be done.
SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution. and thereupon and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.

NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR
BIDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION
AT THE INTERSECTION OF PACIFIC BOULE-
VARD AND FRUITLAND AVENUE. IN ACCORD~
ANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 283 OF THE CITY
OF VERNON.
Pursuant to Resolution. No. 2580 of the City of Vernon, adopted
on. the 7th day of November, 1962, directing same, notice is hereby given
that sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon,
California, at th.eoffice of the City Clerk of said City, at the City Hall,
4305 Santa Fe Avenue, until the hour of two (2) o'clock P.M.. on the 20th
day of November, 1962, for traffic signal installation at the intersection of
PaclficBoulevard and Fruitland Avenue, in accordance with Contract No. 283
approved by said City. The proposals will be publicly opened and read in
the Council Chambers of the City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue,
Vernon, Callfornia., on the date and at the time above mentiolled. Specificatio 1S
and contract documents may be obtained at the above-mentioned office of the
City Clerk upon payment of a deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) for each specUica
tion.
The cons truction to be done and materials to be furnished under
said Contract No. 283 are approximately as follow s:
Install signals, foundaUons,controller,cabinets, conduit,
conductors, detectors and do all appurtenant work as ShOWll on Plan No.
T 1678.
The construction. shall be in. accordance with Plan No. T 1678
and Contract No. 283 heretofore approved by the City Council of .said City,
and now on file in theofftceQf the City Clerk of said City, a copy of which
may be secured from the City Engin.eer of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781. inclUSive, Labor Code of California, the City Council
of the City of Vernon has ascertaiaed the general prevailing rate of per diem
wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the 10ca1:I.ty in.

Notice is also hereby given that, pursuant to said Labor Code of
Californi.a, it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract
is awarded" and up.on any subcontractor under him, to pay all laborers,
workmen, or me cb.ani cs employed by them in the execution of th.econtract
not less tb.an the said specified rates" which rates shall be included in the
contract to the successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit
with their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility, technical
ability and experience. Suchsw.orn statement may be required before
award is made to .any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration, each bid submitted purs.uant t.o
this notice Shall bemacle out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the
City Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check. draft or bid
bond. payable .at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California.
made payable at sight to tb.e City Clerk of the City of Vernon" in amount equal
to ten percent (100/.) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered t.o the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope .at,or before, the time stated
