WHEREAS, the .astCe.n1ral Area Planning Committee has. been
organized with the objective of performitag.a.rea.-wide planning fora major
port:lon of Los.. Angeles Metrop!.llitan Area; and
WHER.'.SAS, the higb.waytransportation planning for the a.rea is
now uBder way; and
WHEREAS, the State freeway system is of paramount importance
t-o the total highway plan; and
WHEREAS, sufficient information is not nowavaUableon. the
Sla.uson Freeway and the Indu.strlal Freeway.to enable planp.tng.of the
bigb.way system; and
WHEREAS, the economic health of the entire East Central Area
to a great extent depends on the b.ighway planning;

SECTION 1:
That the CityCouncUof tb.e City of Y~~Gnf
joins. with the East Central Area Planning Committee in requesting the
California Division of Higb.ways to provide its assistance in the t8.$k of
studyingroute'S for the Slauson Freeway and the IndustrU1l Freeway.
SECTION 2:
That certified copies. of this Resolution be
forwarded to the Dtvision ''Jf Highways and to the Chairman of th-e.p.:ast
Central. AreaPla.n.ttingCommittee.

Attached you will find a copy of a ~esolution recently
adopted by the East Central Area Planning Committee.
This Resolution urges the preliminary design of the
Slauson Freeway and the Industrial Freeway to allow
orderly progress in the development of our local street
systems throughout the East Central Area.
It has been suggested that each of the participating
cities transmit similar Resolutions to the Division
of. Highways in order that they may be assured that
these matters are of significance to our respective
communities.

STUDYIMG THE ROUTES OF THE SIAUSON
FREEWAY AND THE INDUSTRIAL FREEWAY.
WHEREAS, the East Central Area Planning commi~tee has been
organized with the objective of performing area-wide planning for
a major portion of Los Angeles Metropolitan Area: and
WHEREAS, the highway transportation planning for the area is
now under way: and
WHEREAS, the State freeway system is of paramount importance
to the total highway plan; and
WHEREAS, sufficient information is not now available on the
Slauson Freeway and the Industrial Freeway to enable planning of
the highway system: and
WHEREAS, the economic health of the entire East Central Area
to a great extent depends on the highway planning:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the East Central Area
planning Committee urgently requests the full assistance of the
Califo~nia Division of Highways in the task of studying the routes
for the freeways above. mentioned.
Passed, approved and adopted this 19th day of October, 1962.
