May 7, 1963, referred your communication dated April 23, 1963,
with reference to the City's power department, to the Finance
Committee for study and report at the same time that said committee
is considering the 1963-64 budget requirements.
The City Council will be unable to respond to your inquiry
until after July 1, 1963 and after the needs of the power depart-
ment have been considered in conjunction with the needs of the
other city departments.

on March 29th, 1963, Mr. Heinze reported that due ~~--v~~
to the yet to be completed audit of the power sys- 4~ ~-
tem by the firm of Haskin & Sells, consideration ~ri
could not be given to a rate reduction. ~

As a result of this report, it was the unanimous
recommendation of the Power Committee, and that re-
commendation was subsequently approved by the Cham-
ber's F.xecutive Committee on April 16, 1963, that a
communication be sent to the City Council of Vernon
requesting that every effort be made for the comple-
tion of this audit by June 1st, 1963, and that an
expression from the Council as to when and what per-
centage of a rate reduction be given at that time.
