SECTION 1: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is

38th Street east of Santa Fe Avenue. in accordance with Contract No. 297.
and the Notice Inviting Sealed Propos;:]ls contained in said Contract No. 297.

12 tion printed. publisre d and circulated in the City of Vernon. the City Clerk
13 is hereby directed to post said notice. or cause the same to be posted. in
14 three (3) of the most public places in said City. to wi. t: the northwest
15 corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis
16
Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard. and on the bulletin board in the lobby of
17
18
the City Hall of the City of Vernon. located at 4306 Santa Fe Avenue in said
19 City.

SECTION 3:
The first posting of said notice shall be not

Pursuant to Resolution No. 2655 of the City of Vernon. adopted
on the 20th day of August. 1963. notice is hereby given that sealed proposals
or bids will be received by the City of Vernon. California. at the office of
the City Clerk. at the City Hall. 4305 Santa Fe Avenue. until the hour of
two (2) o'clock P. M.. on the 3rd day of September. 1963. to construct 38th
91 Street East of Santa Fe Avenue, in accordance with Contract No. 297 approved

by said City. The proposals will be publicly opened and read in the Council

Bidders are hereby notified that, pursu~nt to the provisions of
Sections 1770...1781, inclusive, Labor Code of California, the City Council of the
City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem wages ar d
rates for legal holidays and over...time work in the locality in which this work is
to be performed, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to exe-
cute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder, and that the
Resolution establishing these prevailing rates is on file with the City Clerk of
the City of Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that, pursuant to said Labor Code of
California, it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract is
awarded, and upon any subcontractor under him, to pay all laborers, workmen,
or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract not less than
the said specified rates, which rates shall be included in the contract to the
successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with
their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility, technical
ability and experience. Such sworn statement may be required before award
is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration, each bid submitted pursuant to
this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the City

Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check, draft or bid bond; payable

at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California. made payable at
sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, in amount equal to ten per cent

(10%) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the City Clerk of the City of
Vernon in a sealed envelope at. or before, the time stated herein, and must be
plainly marked "Proposal for Contract No. 297".

The above"'mm ti oned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee that
the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be declared
forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a contract
of the required form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk of the
City of Vernon, California. The successful bidder will be required to furnish
a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per cent (50%) of the
Contract price. and a faithful performance bond in an amount euqal to one
hundred per cent (100%) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law, no bidder may withdraw his bid for
a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to secure the Plans
and Specifications, as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications will be re-
turned, which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned to the City in
good condition not later than forty"'eight (48) hours after the bids on the work
will have been opened.
The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all bids or
waive any informality in the bid.
