RESOLUTION NO. 2678
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROV-
ING CONTRACT NO. 305 FOR THE FURNISHING OF ONE NEW STATION
WAGON AND DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED
PROPOSALS OR BIDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 305 OF THE
CITY OF VERNON.
7 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
8 WHEREAS, under date of December 6, 1963, R. H. Bockhacker,
9 Chief of Police, submitted to the City Council Contract No. 305 for the
10 furnishing of one new station wagon and recommended approval thereof;

11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
That Contract No. 305 be, and the same is
13 hereby approved for the furnishing of one new station wagon for use of the City
14 of Vernon.

SECTION 2:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereb)
16 directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for furnishing one new
17 station wagon in accordance with Contract No. Q05, and the Notice Inviting
18 Sealed Proposals contained in said Contract No. 305.

SECTION 3:
There being no newspaper of general circula-
20 tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is
21 hereby directed to post said Notice, or cause the same to be posted, in three
22 (3) of the most public plac.iin said City, to wit: at the northwest corner of
23 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; at the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard
24 and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall
25 of the City of Ve!'non, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in said City.

SECTION 4:
The first posting of said Notice shall be not
less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed equip-
mente The Notice shall distinctly state the equipment to be purchased.
SECTION 5:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.

NOTICE INVITING BIDS FOR FURNISHING ONE
NEW STATION WAGON
Sealed proposals will be received by the City of Vernon. California.
at the City Clerk's Office of said city at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue. Vernon 58.

California. until 2:00 p. M. on January 7. 196+
. for the furnishing of one
6 new station wagon. The proposals will be publicly opened and read in the
Council Chambers of the City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue. Vernon.
California. on the date and the time ahove mentioned. Specifications and
contract documents may be obtained at the above mentioned office of the City
Clerk upon payment of a deposit of ten. ($10. 00) dollars for each specification.
as a guarantee that the specifications will be returned. and which deposit will
be refunded in case same are returned to the City in good condition not later
than forth-eight (48) hours after the bids on the work will have been opened.
Notice is also hereby given that. pursuant to said Labor Code of
California. it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract
is awarded. and upon any subcontractor under him. to pay all laborers.
workmen. or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract
not less than the said specified rates. which rates shall be included in the
contract to the successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with
their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility. technical
ability and experience. Such sworn statement may be required before award
is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration. each bid submitted pursuant to
this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the
City Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check. draft or bid bond.
payable at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California. made
payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon. in amount equal to
ten per cent (10%) of the bid submitted. shall be delivered to the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at. or before. the time stated
herein. and must be plainly marked "Proposal for Contract No. 30511.
The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee

that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be
declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into
a contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City
Clerk of the City of Vernon~ California. The successful bidder, will be
'\
required to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty
per cent (50%) of the Contract price~ and a faithful performance bond in an
amount equal to one hundred per cent (100%) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law ~ no bidder may withdraw his
bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to secure the
Plans and Specifications~ as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications
will be returned~ which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned
to the City in good condition not later than for~-eight (48) hours after the
bids on the work will have been opened.
The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all bids
or waive any informality in the bid.
