Resolution No. 2698 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2698 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON. CALIFORNIA. RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELEC- 3 TION HELD IN SAID CITY OF VERNON ON THE 14TH DAY OF APRIL. 1964. DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE 4 PROVIDED BY LAW. 5 WHEREAS. a regul.ar general municipal election was held and con- 6 ducted in the City of Vernon. County of Los Angeles,? State of California. on 7 Tuesday,? the 14th day of April. 196411 as required by law; and 8 WHEREAS# notice of said election was duly and regularly given in 9 time,? form and manner as provided by law; that voting precincts were properly 10 established; that election officers were appointed and that in all respects said 11 election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereatll received and 12 canvassed and the returns made and declared in time. form and manner as 13 required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for 14 the holding of elections in general law cities; and 15 WHEREAS. on the 21st day of Aprilll 1964. at the hour of.2:00 P. M. 16 the City Council duly assembled at its usual place of meeting and has canvassed 17 the returns of said election and as a result of whichll the City Council finds that 18 the number of votes cast and the names of the persons voted forll the office eac 19 person was voted forll and other matters required by law to be as stated herein 20 after; 21 NOW. THEREFORE.. SECTION 3: That at said regular general municipal election. -1- 1 the following measure was submitted to the electors of said City,? to wit: 2 "Shall the salary of the members of the City Council 3 be increased from Fifty Dollars ($50. OO) per month 4 to One Hundred Dollars {$1 00. OO} per month?" 5 SECTION 4: That the whole number of votes cast in said City 6 (except absent voter ballots) was fifty-three (53). 7 That the whole number of absent voter ballots 8 cast in said City was one (1 l, making a total of fifty-four (54) votes cast in said 9 City. 10 SECTION 5: That the names of persons voted for at said 11 election for Member of the City Council of said City are as follows: 12 ROBERT J. FURLONG 13 CHARLES H. MAILLIARD 14 That the measure voted upon at said election is 15 as follows: 16 "Shall the salary of the members of the City Council 17 be increased from Fifty Dollars ($50. OO) per month 18 to One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per month?" 19 That the number of votes given in the City to 20 each of such persons above named for the respective offices for which said 21 persons were candidates and for and against the measure were as follows: 22 ROBERT J. FURLONG was elected as Member of the City Council 10 of said City for the full term of four (4) years; and 11 CHARLES H. MAILLIARD was elected as Member of the City 12 Council of said City for the full term of four (4) years. 13 That as a result of said election. a majority of the qualified voters 14 voting on said measure relating to salary of the members of the City Council 15 did vote in favor thereof,? and that said proposition was carried, and shall be 16 deemed adopted and ratified. 17 SECTION 7: The City Clerk shall enter on the records of 18 the City Council of said City. a statement of the result of said electionll showin!1: 19 (1) The whole number of votes cast in the City; 20 (2) The names of the persons voted for; 21 (3) The measures voted upon; 22 (4) For what office each person was voted for; 23 (5) The number of votes given in the City to each person# and for 24 and against each measure. 25 26 27 SECTION 8: That the City Clerk shall immediately make and# upon compliance by the personscelected with the provisions of Section 11565 and Section 11568 of the Elections Code of the State of Californiall shall deliver to each of such persons so elected a certificate of election signed by him and duly authenticated; that he shall also administer to each person electedll the oath of office prescribed in the State Constitution of the State of California and shall have them subscribe thereto and file the same in his office.
