RESOLUTION NO. 2733
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROV-
ING CONTRACT NO. 309 FOR CITY HALL LIGHTING AND DIRECTING THE
GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS IN ACCORDANC ~
WITH CONTRACT NO. 309 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS under date of September 22~ 1964~ D. D. Graysonl
TrafficEngineer~ submitted to the City Council Contract No. 309 for City Hall
Lighting and recommended approval thereof;
NOW. THEREFORE" BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
That Contract No. 309 be" and the same is
11 hereby approved for City Hall Lighting in the City of Vernon.

SECTION 2:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
13 directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for City HallLighting
14 in accordance with Contract No. 309~ and the Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals
15 contained in said Contract No. 309.

SECTION 3:
There being no newspaper of general circulation
17 printed" published and circulated in the City of Vernon~ the City Clerk is hereb~
IS directed to post said Notice" or cause the same to be posted~ in three {3} of the
19 most public places in said City~ to wit: at the northwest corner of 38th Street
20 and Santa Fe Avenue; at the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific
21 Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of
22 Vernon~ located at 4305 SantaE'.e Avenue in said City.

SECTION 4:
The first posting of said Notice shall be not less
24 than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed lighting.
25 The Notice shall distinctly state the work to be done.

SECTION 5:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution~ and thereupon and thereafter the same
shall be in full force and effect.

NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS
FOR CITY HALL LIGHTING IN ACCORDANCE
WITH CONTRACT NO. 309 OF THE CITY OF
VERNON.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 2733 of the City of Vernonl adopted on
the 6th day of October" 1964" directing samel notice is hereby given that seale
proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon~ California at the
office of the City Clerkl 4305 Santa Fe Avenue~ until two (2) otclock p. M." on
the 20th day of October" 1964 for City Hall Lightingl in accordance with
Contract No. 309 approved by said City. The proposals will be publicly opened
and read in the Council Chambers of said City on the date and time mentioned
above. Specifications and Contract Documents may be obtained from the City
Engineer upon payment of Ten Dollars ($10. OO) to the City Clerk for each
specification.
The work to be done and materials to be furnished under this
Contract are approximately as follows:
Remove existing lighting and some plaster
Furnish and install suspended acoustical ceilings
Furnish and install new lighting and appurtenant work
The construction shall be in accordance to Plan No. B 1748 and
Contract No. 309~ heretofore approved by the City Council.
Bidders are hereby notified that~ pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781" inclusive~. ,~abor Code of California" the City Council of

the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem
wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality in which
this work is to be performed" for each craft or type of workman or mechanic
needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder"
and that the Resolution establishing these prevailing rates is on file with the
City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that~ pursuant to said Labor Code of
California" it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract is
awarded~ and upon any subcontractor under him~ to pay alllaborersl workmenl
or mechanics employed by tmm in the execution of the contract not less than

1 the said specified rates" which rates shall be included in the contract to the
2 successful bidder.
3 Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with their
4 bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility~ technical ability and
5 experience. Such sworn statement may be required before award is made to
6 any particular bidder.
7 To be entitled to consideration~ each bid submitted pursuant to this
8 notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the City

Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check~ draft or bid bond" payable
at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California~ made payable at
sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon~ in amount equal to ten per cent
(10%) of the bid submitted" shall be delivered to the City Clerk of the City of
Vernon in a sealed envelope at" or beforel the time stated herein" and must be
plainly marked "Proposal for Contract No. 309".
The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee
that the bidder will enter into a contract .if awarded to him and will be declared
forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a contract
of the required form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk of the City
of V ernon~ California. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a
labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per cent (500/0) of the Contract
price~ and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to one hundred per
cent (1000/0) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law I no bidder may withdraw his bid
for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of Ten Dollars ($10. OO) will be required to secure the
Plans and Specifications~ as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications will
be returned" which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned to the
City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) hours after the bids on the
work will have been opened.
The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all bids or
waive any informality in the bid.
