A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROV-
ING CONTRACT NO. 310 FOR THE RESURFACING OF VERNON AVENUE
FROM ALAMEDA STREET TO SANTA FE AVENUE., AND DIRECTING THE
GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS IN ACCORDANCI
WITH CONTRACT NO. 310 OF THE CITY OF VERNON. _ __
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS~- under date of January 12~ 1965~- D. D. Grayson..
Traffic Engineer~ submitted to the City Council Contract No. 310 for the
resurfacing of Vernon Avenue from Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue and
recommended approval thereof;
NOW., THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
That Contract No. 310 be.. and the same is
12 hereby approved for the resurfacing of Vernon Avenue from Alameda Street to
13 Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Vernon.

SECTION 2:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
15 directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the resurfacing of
16 Vernon Avenue from Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue in accordance with
17 Contract No. 310.. and the Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals contained in said
18 Contract No. 310.

SECTION 3:
There being no newspaper of general circulation
20 printed.. published and circulated in the City of Vernon.. the City Clerk is here-
21 by directed to post said Notice~ or cause the same to be posted.. in three (3) of
22 the most public places in said City.. to wit: at the northwest corner of 38th
23 Street and Santa Fe Avenue; at the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and
24 Pacific Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the
25 City of Vernon.. located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue.. all in said City.

SECTION 4:
The first posting of said Notice shall be not
less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed resurfac...
ing. The Notice shall distinctly state the work to be done.
SECTION 5:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution.. and thereupon and thereafter the same
shall be in full force and effect.

2 NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR VERNON AVENUE
RESURFACING FROM ALAMEDA STREET TO SANTA FE AVENUE., IN
3 ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 310 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
4 Pursuant to Resolution No. 2743 of the City of Vernon., adopted on
5 the 19th day of January~ 1965~ directing same~ notice is hereby given that
6 sealed proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon~ California.. at
7 the office of the City Clerk of said City~ at the City Hall.. 4305 Santa Fe Avenue
8 until the hour of two (2) 0' clock p. M., on the 2nd day of February ~ 196 5 ~ for
9 resurfacing of Vernon Avenue from Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue., in
10 accordance with Contract No. 31-0 approved by said City. The proposals will
11 be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of the City Hall located at
12 4305 Santa Fe Avenue~ Vernon~ California~ on the date and at the time above
13 mentioned. Specifications and contract documents may be obtained at the above...
14 mentioned office of the City Clerk upon payment of a deposit of ten dollars
15 ($10.00) for each specification.
16 The construction to be done and materials to be furnished under
17 said Contract No. 310 are approximately as follows:

Heating and Remixing Existing Surface 12.. 675 sq. yds.
Constructing A. C. Pavement 1~ 190 tons
Resetting Manhole Frames and Covers 8 each
The construction shall be in accordance with Plan No. P-1 7 51 and
Contract No. 310 heretofore approved by the City Council of said City.. and
now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City., a copy of which may be
secured from the City Engineer of said City.
Bidders are hereby notified that~ pursuant to the provisions of
Sections 1770-1781.. inclusive~ Labor Code of California.. the City Council of
the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem
wages and rates for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality in which
this work is to be performed.. for each craft or type of workman or mechanic
needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder..
and that the Resolution establishing these prevailing rates is on file with the

Notice is also hereby given that~ pursuant to said Labor Code of
California.. it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract is
awarded~ and upon any subcontractor under him~ to pay all laborers~ workmen~
or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract not less than
the said specified rates~ which rates shall be included in the contract to the
successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with thei
bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility~ technical ability and
experience. Such sworn statement may be required before award is made to
any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration~ each bid submitted pursuant to this
notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the City
Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check~ draft or bid bond.. pay-
able at a bank authorized to do business in the State of California.. made payable
at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.. in amount equal to ten per cent
(10%) of the bid submitted" shall be delivered to the City Clerk of the City of
Vernon in a sealed envelope at.. or before., the time stated herein~ and must be
plainly marked "Proposal fOr Contract No. 31 On.
The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee
that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be declared
forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a contract of
the required form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk of the City
of VernonJ California. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a
labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per cent (50%) of the Contracjl.
price~ and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to one hundred per
cent (100%) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law~ no bidder may withdraw his bid
for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to secure the
Plans and Specifications., as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications will
be returnedJ which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned to the
