2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON OPPOSING
HE ADOPTION OF ASsEMBLY BILL NO. 2334.

4 WHEREAS.. the City Council of the City of Vernon is advised of the
5 roposed interim committee hearings on Assembly Bill No. 2334.. which bill
6 roposes that all meetings of any committee or subcommittee of a legislative
7 ody shall be open to the public; and
S WHEREAS~ after due consideration~ this City Council is of the
9 pinion that the present laws of the State of California as stated in the so-called
10 'Brown Act" are more than adequate to protect the public's right of full dis-
11 losure of the actions of legislative bodies; and
12 WHEREAS.. it is the opinion of the members of this Council that the
13 aid ItBrown Act" should not be made applicable to committees of less than a
14 uorum of the council inasmuch as these committees act in an advisory capacity
15 nly and cannot take any official action; and
16 WHEREAS.. the opening of these committee meetings to the public
17 ould tend to create practical problems involved in giving notice of such meet-
IS ings which would hamper the expeditious handling of public business;

NOW~ THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
That the City Council of the City of Vernon
21 ereby declares its opposition to Assembly Bill No. 2334 for the reasons herein-
22 above set forth.. and urges the members of the State Legislature to defeat this
23 proposed legislation.

That the City Clerk is hereby directed to forwar
25 copies of this Resolution to the Honorable Edmund G. Brown., Governor of the
26 State of California; to Mr. Milton Marks~ Committee Chairman.. Assembly
27 Interim Committee on Government Organization; to all Legislators representing

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CULVER CITY,
CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING THE ADOPTION OF ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 2334.
WHER~AS, the City Council of the City of Culver City is advised of
the proposed interim committee hearings on Assembly Bill No. 2334, which
bill proposes that all meetings of any committee or subcommittee of a legis-
lative body, whether or not composed of a quorum of the members of the
legislative body, shall be open to the public; and
WHEREAS, after due consideration, this City Council is of the
opinion that the present laws of the State of California as stated in the so-called
"Brown Act" are more than adequate to protect the pu.blic's right of full dis-
closure of the actions of legislative bodies; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the members of this Council that the
said "Brown Act" should not be made applicable to committees of less than a
quorum of the council inasmuch as these committees act in an advisory
capacity only and cannot take any official action; and
WHEREAS, the opening of these committee meetings to the public
would tend to create practical problems involved in giving notice of such rneet-
ings which would hamper the expeditious handling of public business;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CULVER CITY,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Culver City hereby
declares its opposition to Assembly Bill No. 2334 for the reasons hereinabove
set forth, and urges the members of the State Legislature to defeat this pro-
posed legislation.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to forward copies
of this Res.olution to the Honorable Edmund G. Brown, Governor of the State
of California; to Mr. Milton Marks, Committee Chairman, Assembly Interim
Committee on Government Organization; to all Legislators representing
Los Angeles County; to all Cities in Los Angeles; and to the offices of the
League of California Cities.
