2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROV
ING CONTRACT NO. 312-A FOR THE FURNISHING OF RADIO EQUIPMENT.
3 AND DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR
BIDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 312-A OF THE CITY OF
4 VERNON.
5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY CF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
6 WHEREAS. under date of April 26. 1965, G. G. Skalsky"., Assistant
7 Director of Civil Defense, submitted to the City Council Contract No. 312-A
-
8 for the furnishing of Radio Equipment and recommendedapproV8.l thereof;
9 NOW. THEREFORE" BE IT RESOLVED:

SECTION 1:

That Contract No. 312-A be. and the same is
11 hereby approved for the furnishing of radio equipment for the use :of the City of
12 Vernon.

SECTION 2:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernonis hereby
14 directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for furnishing .Radio
15 Equipment in accordance with Contract No. 312-A. and the Notice Inviting
16 Sealed Proposals contained in said Contract No. 312-A.

SECTION 3:
There being no newspaper of general circulatio
18 printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon". the City Clerk is here-
19 by directed to post said Notice". or cause the same to be posted, in three (3) of
20 the most public places in said City, to wit: at the northwest corner of 38th
21 Street and Santa Fe Avenue; at the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and
22 Pacific Boulevard; and on the bll11etin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the
23 City of Vernon". located at 4305 Santa. Fe Avenue". all in said City.

SECTION 4:
The first posting of said Notice shall be not les
25 then ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed equipment.
26 The Notice shall distinctly state the equipment to be purchased.

ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. .312-A.OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 2768 of the City of Vernon". adopted on
the 4th day of May, 1965". directing same". notice is hereby given that sealed
proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon". California at the
office of the City Clerk, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue" until two (2) o'clock P.M.". on

the 18th day of May. .1965 for Radio Equipment". in accordance with Contract
No. 312...A approved. by said City.. The proposals will be publicly opened and
read in the Council Chambers of said City on the date and time mentioned above
Specifications and Contract Documents may be obtained from the City Clerk

upon payment of Ten Dollars ($10.00) deposit for each specification.
The equipment to be furnished under this Contract is as follows:

Bidders are hereby notified that". pursuant to the provisions of

Sections 1770-1781". inclusive. La'bor Code of California" the City Council of
the City of Vernon bas ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem w.
and rates for legal holidays and over-time in the locality in which this work is
to be performed. for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to
execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder. and that
the Resolution establishing these prevailing rates is on file with the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that" pursuant to said Labor Code of
California". it shall be mandatory upon the. Contractor to whom the contract is
awarded" and upon any subcontractor under him". to pay all laborers" workmen".
or mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract not less than
the said specified rates. which rates shall be included in the contract to the
successful bidder.

their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility. technical ability
and experience. Such sworn statement may be required before award is made
to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration". each bid submitted pursuant to this
notice shall be made out ona form to be obtained at the Office of the City Clerk
shall be accompanied by a certified check". draft or bid bond. payable at a bank
authorized to do business in the State of California". made payable. at sight to
the City Clerk of the City of Vernon~ inaIDount equal to ten per cent (100/0) of
the b.id submitted. shall be delivered to::._ City Clerk of the City of Vernon in
a sealed envelope at. or before. the time stated herein, and must be plainly
marked "Proposal for Contract No. 312-A".
The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee
that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be declared
forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a contract of
the required form after being requested to do so by the City. Clerk of the City
of Vernon~ California. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a
labor and material bond in. an amount equal to fifty per cent (50%) of the Con-
tract price. and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to oaehundred
per cent (100%). of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law". no bidder may withdraw his bid
fora period of fifteen (15) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of Ten Dollars ($ ~VO. 00) will be required to secure .the

Plans and Specifications". as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications will
be returned. which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned to the
City in good condition not later than forty-eight (48) hours after the bids on the
work will have been opened.
The City of Vernon reserved the. right to reject any and all bids or
waive any informality in the bid.
