6 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
7 WHEREAS". under date of May 26". 1965". R. H. King". Superintenda

8 Water and Sewer Systems". submitted to the City Council Contract No. 314 for
9 Cleaning and Cement Lining the 49th Street Water Main from Alameda Street
10 to Santa Fe Avenue and recommended approval thereof;
11 NOW. THEREFORE1 BE IT RESOLVED:

SECTION 1:
That Contract No. 314 be" and the same is
13 hereby approved for cleaning and cement lining the 49th Street water main from
14 Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Vernon.

SECTION 2:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
16 directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for cleaning and cemen
17 lining the 49th Street water main from Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue in
18 accordance with Contract No. 314. and the Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals
19 contained in said Contract No. 314.

SECTION 3:
There being no newspaper of general circulation
21 printed. published and circulated in the City of Vernon". the City Clerk is hereb
22 directed to post said Notice. or cause the same to be posted. in three (3) of the
23 most public places in said City. to wit: at the northwest corner of 38th Street
24 and Santa Fe Avenue; at the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific
25 Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of
26 Vernon". located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue" all in said City.

SECTION 4:
The first posting of said Notice shall be not less
than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for the proposed work. The
Notice shall distinctly state the work to be done.
SECTION 5:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution". and thereupon and thereafter the same

7 proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon". California". at the
8 Office of the City Clerk". 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, until the hour of'two (2) o'cloe
9 P.M. on the :l5th day of June". 1965, for cleaning and cement lining the 49th
10 street water main fromAla.meda street"to Santa Fe Avenue. in accordance with
11 Contract No. 314 approved by said City. The proposals will be publicly opened
12 and read in the Council Chambers located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon.
13 California". on the date and at the ti:rne mentioned above. Specifications and
14 contract documents may be obtained at the office of the City Clerk upon paymen
15 of Ten Dollars ($10. (0) for each specification.

and ra.tes for legal holidays and over-time work in the locality in which this
work is to be performe~ for each craft or type of workman or mechanic
needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder~
and that the Resolation establishing these prevailing rates is on file with the
City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is also hereby given that. pursuant to said Labor Code of
CaWornia". it shall bem.andatory upon the Contractor to whom the c.ontract is
awarded" and upon any subeontractor under b.iJ:n#c to pay alllaborers#c workmen
or meehanicsemployed by them in the execution of the contract not les.. than
the said specified rates" which rates shall be included in the contract to the
successful bidder.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with
their bids a sworn statement of their financial responaibility" tech.r1ieal ability
and experience. Such sworn statement may be required before award is made
to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration. each bid submitted pursuant to this
notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the o.ffice of the City
Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check". draft or bid bon d. payabl
at a bank authorized to do business in the state of California" ;r:n~de payab~ at
sight to the City Clerk of the City o.f Vernon". in a:m.ount equal to ten per cent

The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarante.e
that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and wlllbe declared
forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a contract
of the re'luired form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk of the
City of Vernon" California. The successful bidder will be required to furnish
a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per cent (50-k) of the
Contract price". and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to one

Unless otherwise required by law". no bidder may withdraw his bid
for a period 01 thirty (SO) days after the date set for the opening thereof.
A deposit of Ten Dollars ($10. 00) will be required to secure the
Plans and Specifications.. as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications will
he returned.. which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned to the
City in good condition not later than forty....eight (48) hours after the bids on the
work will have been opened.
The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all bids or
waive any informality in the bid.
