CITY COUNCIY~ V~~_____
HONORABLE MAYOR AND
Gentlemen:
Approximately ten years ago the joint County Sanitation Districts
acquired the exhausted diatomaceous earth quarry in the Palos
Verdes Hills which promised approximately twenty years of life
for refuse disposal, following which, by general concurrence of
the joint districts, the land was to be disposed of to the Los
Angeles County Park System for park and recreation purposes.
At the meeting of the joint County Sanitation Districts of Wed-
nesday, August 11, District No.5 proposed consideration of a
change of use which, in the opinion of many, is a breach of
faith and violates the original decision as to the ultimate
purpose of this property when the disposal site was completely
filled.
I have been asked to prepare the enclosed sample resolution by
a considerable number of Mayors and Councilmen which is in pro-
test of this proposed action; which resolution speaks for itself,
and we earnestly solicit your careful consideration and passage
of this document.
