RESOLUTION NO. 2817
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON OF INTEN
TION TOAPPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BOARD
OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE STATE EMPLOYEES. RETIREME:NTSYSTEM
AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
6 WHEREAS,. the State Employees I Retirement Law permits theparti....
7 cipation of public 'agencies and their employees in the State Employees'Retire;,.
8 ment System by the execution of a contract, and sets forth the procedure by
9 which said public agencies may elect to subject themselves and theiX'employees
10 to amendments to said law; and
11 WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedure to amend this contract
12 is the adoption by the legislative body of the public agency of a resolution giving
13. notice of its intention to approve an amendment to said contract, whichresolu....

14 tion shall contain a summary of the changes proposed in said contract; and
15 WHEREAS, the following is a statement of the proposed changes:

1. Retirement allowances payable for time commencing on the fiX's
17 day of the calendar month coinciding with or next following the effective date of
18 this amendment to or on account of any person whose retiremen~>l>ec.a:tJ1e~ffec'"
19 tive on or prior to December 31, 1961 are hereby increased according to a slid'"
20 ing scale ranging from two percent for those whose retirement beeame effective
21 during the eighteen monthS ending' December 31, 1961, to a maximum of ten per
, 22 cent for those whose retirement became effective July 1. 1957, or earliEg. but
'23 not to exceed the sump~ $50.00 per month. as provided in Government Code
