screened sewage 1n the Bay resulted in the creation of a nuisance

On January 1711 1956. the City Coooo11 ot Vernon adopted
and transmitted to Loa Angeles City Council, Resolution Ho~ 1889.
10 which Vemon acknowledged receipt of Los Angeles demands,
stating that it \>lould be more economical and 1n the best interests
ot Vernon to d1sco~~ect from tha Loa AnBelos s1stem and dispose of
its sewage through County San1tat1on D1St~ct8 ot Los Angeles
County 11 and requesting statue of a. proport1onal reimbursement ot
capital constructions costs ot ~per1on paid by Vernon 10 return
tor the proposed release ot ita allocated capac1tyo
On September 41 1957, the Loa Angeles City Council adv1sed
Vernon that it had no objection to Vernon abandoning any ot its
oapacity rights in the ~per1on Plant and that the (;1ty ot Vernon
1s entitled to ~et'u.nd of the eQ.uitable portion ot 1t$ contribution
to the capltal construot:ton cost" less any amounts then due the
City of Los Angel~3 from the City of Vernon.
The Engineers or the City or Vernon and Los Angeles agree:

by the proposed settlement 1n Q manner equitable to both cities.
The above proposed settlement was ax-rived at after ~r conferences
between the attorneys and oltg1nf;:ers ot both c3.ties, and all are
aware of the many legal QUGst10na involved as wall as the hazards.

QUITCLAIM AND RELEASE
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
Whereas, the City of Los Angeles, a Municipal Corpora-
tion, and the City of Vernon, a Municipal Corporation, have by
their respective actions agreed to a settlement of the disputes
between the cities regarding the disposal of sewage and the
City of Vernon by its Resolution No. 2828 of the City Council
of the City of Vernon, which was approved on the 19th day of
April, 1966, has authorized the release of all capacity rights
of the City of Vernon in the Hyperion Treatment Plant of the
City of Los Angeles:
NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Vernon, a Municipal Cor-
poration, hereby releases and quitclaims to the City of Los
Angeles, nIl of tho City of Vernon's capacity rights in the
Hyperion Treatment Plant of the City of Los Angeles together
with all capacity rights in and to any outfall sewers used to
convey the sewage from the City of Vernon to said Hyperion
Treatment Plant.
WITNESS the signature of the City of Vernon by its
Mayor and its City Clerk, and the corporate seal affixed, this

tion, by and through its duly authorized public officials,
does hereby grant and assign to the City of Los Angeles, a
Municipal Corporation, all of the City of Vernon's right,
title and interest in and to that certain sanitary sewer lo-
cated in Fifty-Seventh Street in the City of Los Angeles, and
in all rights of way and extensions thereof, extending from
the city boundary of the City of Vernon in Alameda Street to
Compton Avenue and in Compton Avenue from Fifty-Seventh Street
to Slauson Avenue; and does further grant, remise, assign
and quitclaim all the City of Vernon's right, title and inter-
est in and to any easement and/or right of way in, under and
along a parcel of land in the City of Los Angeles, County of
Los Angeles, State 0 f Ca lifornia, described as follows:
All that portion of Lot 1, Poindexter and
Newmark's Tract, as per map recorded in Book
11, Page 45 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles
County, described as follows, to-wit:
A strip or parcel of land four (4) feet
in width lying two (2) feet on each side of
the following described line, to-wit: Begin-
ning at a point in the easterly line of Alba
Street, distant thereon Six hundred fifty (650)
feet southerly from the northerly line of
said Lot 1; thence easterly and parallel with
