RESOLUTION NO. 2901
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION OF A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FOR APPORTIONMENT OF
STATE ADMINISTERED LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX REVENUES BETWEEN
HUNTINGTON PARK AND VERNON, COVERING CERTAIN DEFINED PROPERTIES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE C ITYOF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, there has heretofore existed a sales tax dispute
pertaining to an allocation of State sales and use taxes received
from Acme Electric Welder Company, Inc., Industrial Sheet Metal
WorkS, and Industrial Sheet Metal Fabricators, and
WHEREAS, the State Board of Equalization of the State of
California has withheld all of said sales and use taxes pending a
determination, either by litigation o~{by settlement between the
cities of Vernon and Huntington Park, as to distribution of said
sales taxes, and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney of the City of Vernon, by
letter dated February 24;' 1967, addressed to the City Clerk of the
City of Vernon, has indicated that, in his opinion, a joint powers
agreement for the apportionment of State administered sales and use
taxes could properly be entered into, and
WHEREAS, said City Attorney's letter opinion has also
indicated that the latest County Assessor's assessments of the
properties in question could be utilized for the purposes of
allocating sales tax revenue,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1: That the joint powers agreement for appor-

26 tionment of State administered local sales and use tax revenues
27 between Huntington Park and Vernon, covering certain defined pro-
28 perties, as presented to the City COuncil of the City of Vernon, at
29 a regular meeting held on May 16, 1967, is hereby approved.

SECTION 2: That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
31 authorized and directed to execute said agreement on behalf of the
32 City of Vernon, and further that the City Clerk of the City of

1 Vernon is authorized and directed to forward to the state Board of
2 Equalization of the state of California an executed copy of said
'.3 agreement, together with a certified copy of this resolution.

SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of vernon shall
5 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and.there-
6 after the same shall be in full force and effect.
7 ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 16th day of May, 1967.
