Dear Mayor Furlong:
It is the intent of this letter to urge that the support of your city
council be given to several measures now before the State Legislature.
Assembly Bills 806 and 877 are two which must be considered by every local
government. In effect, they return the right to enact local ordinances
to individual city governing bodies.
A copy of each of these measures is included with this letter. I would
hope that you will carefully peruse them and pass them on to each of
your council members for his consideration. The Los Ange:Es County
Board of Supervisors recently gave their support to these legislative
measures.
I believe that you, too, will see the need for their enactment and will
want to add your support by adopting a resolution calling for such action
by our State Legislature.
If you have further questions or comments, please feel free to contact my
office.
