Resolution No. 2958 ,1 RESOLUTION NO. 2958 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY. COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID 3 GITYOFVERNON ON THE ~TH DAY OF APRIL, 1968, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW. 4 5 WHEREAS, a regular general municipal election was held 6 and conducted in the City of Vernon, County of LoS Angeles, State 7 of California, on Tuesday, the 9th day of April, 1968, as required 8 by law; and 9 WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly 10 given in time, form and manner as provided by law; that voting IIi precincts were properly established; that election officers were 12 appointed and that in all respects said election was. held and 13 conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and canvassed and 14 the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required 15 by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California 16 for the holding of elections in cities; and 17 WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 2944 adopted the 18 20th day of February, 1968, the City Clerk of the City of Vernon 19 canvassed the returns of said election and has certified the 20 results to this City Council, said results are received, attached, 21 and made a part hereof as tfExhibit AU. 22 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, 23 CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 24 Section l. That there was one (1) voting precinct 25 established for the purpose of holding said election, consisting 26 (of consolidations) of the regular election precincts in the City 27 of Vernon as established for the holding of state and county 28 elections. 29 Section 2. That said regular general municipal election 30 was held for the purpose of electing the following officers of said 31 City as required by the laws relating to cities in the State of 32 California, to wit: 1. .1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 111 I 12 13 I 141 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 . 31 32 Two (2) Members of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years. Section 3. That the whole number of votes cast in said City (except absent voter ballots) was 49. That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in said City was 3, making a total of 52 votes cast in said City. Section 4. That the names of persons voted for at said election for Member of the City Council of said City are as follows: Robert J. Furlong, Charles H. Mail1iard, William F. Powers. That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of such persons above named for the respective officeS for which said persons were candidates were as listed in Exhibit "Au attached. Section 5. The City Council does declare and determine that: Robert J. Furlong was elected as Member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years; and Charles H. Mail1iard was elected as Member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years. Section 6. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council, of said City, a statement of the result of said election, showing: (1) The whole number of votes cast in the city; (2) The names of the persons voted for; (3) For what office each person was voted for; (4) The number of votes given at each precinct to each person; (5) The number of votes given in the city to each person. Section 7. That the City Clerk shall immediately make and, upon compliance by the persons elected with the provisions of Section 11565 and Section l1568 of the Elections Code of the 2. .1 2 f." State of california, shall deliver to each of such persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by him and duly authenti- 3' cated; that he shall also administer to each person elected, the 4 5 61 .1 7 8 9 Oath of Office prescribed in the state Constitution of the state of California and shall have them subscribe thereto and file the same in his office. Whereupon, each and all of said persons so elected shall be inducted into the respective office to which they have been elected. Section 8.
