RESOLUTION NO. 2982
A. RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, SETTING
THE TIME AND PLACE FOR PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE APPLICATION
OF ATCHISON, TOPEKA AND SANTA FE RAILWAY COMPANY FOR PERMISSION
TO OBTAIN A FRANCHISE TO OPERATE A ,LINE OF RAILROAD WITHIN THE
CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Atchison, '1'o.peka and Santa Fe Railway
Company has, under date of August 27, 1968, filed an application
8 .... to construct, operate and maintain a spur track in, along, and
9 across certain streets and alleys, all located within the City of
10 Vernon, and
III WHEREAS, pursuant to Public Utilities Code Section 7555,
12 the City Council of the City of Vernon desires that a public
13 hearing be held to act upon said application,
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
16 hereby determines that the time and place for the public hearing
17 upon the application of Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway
18 Company be and the same hereby is set for November 6, 1968, at
19 2:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council Chamber of the City Council of
20 the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon,
21 California.

SECTION 2: That at said time and place the City Council
23 of~he City of Vernon will hear all objectors and all proponents
24 and any other interested person or persons who may be interested
25 in the application of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway
26 Company, and will further take evidence, both written and oral,
27 and will accept written communications protesting or supporting
28 the same.

SECTION 3: That the franchise is proposed for a spur
30 track, the center line of which is more particularly described as
31 follows:
32 Beginning at a point in the westerly line of Pacific

Boulevard, distant 8.5 feet northerly at right angles
from the southerly line of 46th street; thence easterly
parallel to and distant 8.5 feet northerly at right angles
from said southerly line of 46th Stree.t a distance of 273.6
feet; thence southeasterly on a curve concave to the south-
west with a. radius of 287.94 feet, a distance of 90.16
feet to a point of ending in the south line of 46th Street.
SECTION 4: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
6 directs the City Clerk of the City of Vernon to notify the appli-
7 cant of the time and place of public hearing by mailing to said
8 applicant a copy of this resolution and, further, to notify the
9 public by giving reasonable notice of said time and place of
10 hearing, which reasonable notice is hereby found to be the act of
11 posting at least fifteen (15) days before said hearing in three
12 of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: The
1:3 northwest corner of 38th street and Santa Fe Avenue; the north..
14 east corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the
15 bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City, located
16 at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, Los Angeles
17 County, California~

SECTION 5: The City Council of the City of Vernon
19 hereby directs the City Clerk of the City of Vernon to maintain
20 in his office a copy of the petition of Atchison, Topeka and Santa
21 Fe Railway Company and to make the same available during business
22 hours to all persons reasoIlably interested therein, prior to and
23 including the date of said hearing.

SECTION 6: The Gity Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
25 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
26 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
