1 RESOLUTION NO. 2984
2 A RESOLUTION OF.THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING
THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT TO APPROVE
3 THE MODIFICATION OF REGIONAL PROJECT NO. 1109, DATED JULY, 1968.
~ THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
5 WHEREAS, the City of Monterey Park entered into Supple-
6 ment of Agreement No. 9287 with the Board of Supervisors of the
7 Los Angeles County Flood Control District on July 20, 1965 for the
8 responsibility t9design Regional Project No. ll09 as described in
9 the "Report on the Control of Surface Storm Water by storm Drains
10 and Drainage Channels 1964 Programtt, adopted by the Board of
11 Supervisors of the I"Os Angeles County Flood Control District on
12. August 11, 1964; and
13 WHEREAS, the City of Monterey Park entered into an
14 Engineering Agreement with Koebig & Koebig, Inc./ Alderman &
15 Swift, a joint venture, registered Civil Engineers, hereinafter
16 referred to as "Engineertt, on the 18th day of October, 1965, for
17 engineering services to design Los Angeles County Flood Control
18 District, 1964 Storm Drain Bond Issue Regional Project No. 1109;and
19 WHEREAS, the Engineer prepared detailed cost estimates
20 based on hydrological and hydraulic calculations for Regional
21 Project No. 1109 as shown in the Bond Issue Report and determined
22 that the estimated cost of construction far exceeds the Bond Issue
23 funding for this proj ect; and
24 WHEREAS, the City of Monterey Park submitted the Engineer s
25 findings on said Project to Los Angeles County Flood Control
26 District on March 11, 1966, hereinafter referred to as ttDistricttt
27 requesting the District to review these findings and determine
28 the feasibility of construction as proposed in the bond issue; and
29 WHEREAS, the District by letter dated October 6, 1966,
30 concurred with the Engineer's finding and that the estimated cost
31 of construction far exceeds the funds allocated; and that the
32 District suggested that the City of Monterey Park present a

1 modified project which will best serve the intended purpose of
2 the original project and can be constructed with the allocated
:3 funds; and
i1: WHEREAS, the City of Monterey Park inforllled the District
5 by letter dated October 18, 1966 that a modified project will be
6 prepared that will best serve the intended purpose of the original
7 project; and
8 WHEREAS, the Engineer has prepared a feasibility report
9 for a modified project that best serves the purpose of the original
10 project and it is estimated to be approximately within the allocate
11 funds; and
12 WHEREAS, the Engineer has submitted the modified project
13 to the City Council as depicted in the attached ttRegional Project
14 No. 1109", dated July, 1968;
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that due to conditions
16 not evaluated at the time of the District's Report, a change of
17 conditions exists and the District is authorized to approve the
18 modification of the original plan for Regional Project No. 1109
19 in accordance with the Engineer's findings as depicted in the
20 enclosed "Regional Project No. ll09", dated July, 1968.
21 That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify
22 to the passage of this resolution,aod thereupon and thereafter
23 the same shall be in full force and effect.
24 ADOPTED and APPROVED THIS 17th day of September, 1968.
