Resolution No. 2995 or .. c 1 :3 :3 4 RESOLUTION NO. 2995 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, APPROVING CONTRACT NO. 339 FOR WATER MAIN LINING-PHASE II, AND DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 339 OF THE CITY OF VERNON. 5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: 6 WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council 7 of the City of Vernon contract NO. 339, providing for water main 8 lining-phase II within the City of Vernon, and 9 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has 10 determined that it is in the best interests of said City that 11 the contract be awarded in accordance with applicable State laws, 12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 13 SECTION 1: That contract No. 339 is hereby approved by 14 the City Council of the City of Vernon. 15 SECTION 2: That the City Oerk of the City of Vernon 16 is hereby directed to file in his office in the City Hall of the 17 City of Vernon a copy of contract No. 339. 18 SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon 19 is hereby directed to give notice in writing, inviting sealed 20 proposals or bids for water main lining-phase II within the City 21 of Vernon, in accordance with contract No. 339, and in accordance 22 with this resolution. 23 SECTION 4: There being no newspaper of general circula- 24 tion printed, published or circulated in the City of Vernon, the 25 City Clerk is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause 26 the same to be posted in three (3) of the most public places in 27 the City, to wit: The northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe 28 Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific 29 Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall 30 of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said 31 City. 32 SECTION 5: That the City Council of the City of Vernon 1. ..., .;, . . 1 has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem wages :3 in the locality in which the work described in contract No. 339 :3 is to be performed, fop each craft, classification, or type of 4 workman needed to execute said contract and that the general 51 prevailing rate of per diem wages and the general prevailing rate ~or 6 holiday and overtime work in the locality of the execution of 7 contract No. 339 for each craft, classification or type of work- S man needed is set forth in said contract and incorporated by 9 reference at this point for all purposes as if set forth in full, 2 nd 10 hereby approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon. 11 SECTION 6: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon is 12 directed to post said notice forthwith and the first posting of 13 said notice shall not be less than ten (10) days before the date 14 of opening bids for the proposed work. I' ,~ I 1 NOTICE INVITING BIDS :3 NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR WATER MAIN LINING- PHASE II, IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 339 OF THE CITY OF VERNQ . 3 4 Pursuant to Resolution No. 2995 of the City of Vernon, 5 adopted on the 21st day of January, 1969, directing same, notice 6 is hereby given that sealed proposals or bids will be received 7 by the City of Vernott, California, at the office of the City Clerk S of said City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, until the 9 hour of two (2) o'clock P.M., on the 4th day of February, 1969, 10 for Water Main Lining - Phase II, in accordance with Contract No. 11 339 approved by said City. The proposals will be publicly opened 12 and read in the Council Chambers bf the City Hall located at 4305 13 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, California, on the date and at the time 14 above-mentioned. Specifications and contract documents may be 15 obtained at the above-mentioned office of the City Clerk upon 16 payment of a deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) for each specifica- 17 tion. 18 The construction to be done and the materials to be furnish 19 ed under said Contract No. 339 are approximately as follows: 20 Clean and cement mortar line various size water mains at 21 different locations in the City of Vernon. 22 The construction shall be in accordance with Plan No. WD 23 1811 and Contract No. 339 heretofore approved by the City Council 24 of said City, and now on file in the office of the City Clerk of 25 said City, a copy of which may be secured from the City Engineer 26 of said City. 27 Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the pro- 28 visions of sections 1770-1781, inclusive, of the Labor Code of 29 the State of California, the City Council of the City of Vernon 30 has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem wages and 31 rates for. legal holidays and for overtime work in the locality 32 in which thisv.ork is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be I. 1 :3 3 4 :1 7 S 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 .,. >> , .. ~ awarded to the successful bidder, and that Resolution No. 2995 of the City of Vernon establishes said rates, and is on file with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon. Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility, technical ability and experience. Such sworn statement may be required before award is made to any particular bidder. To be entitled to consideration, each bid submitted pursuant to this notice shall be made out ona form to be obtained at the Office of the Traffic Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified check, draft or bid bond, payable at a bank authorized to do business in the state of California, made payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, in an amount equal to ten per cent (10%) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope, at, or before, the time stated herein, and must be plainly marked nproposal for Contract No. 339. The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given asa guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a contract of the required form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, California. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per cent (50%) of the contract price, and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to one hundred per cent (100%) of the contract price. Unless otherwise required by law, no bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening thereof. A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to secure the Plans and Specifications, as a guarantee that the Plans 2.
