:3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OOUNCIL OF THE CITY OJ? VERNON, ESTABLISH-
ING A VERNON POLICE RESERVE UNIT.

4 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
5 WHEREAS, the Police Chief of the City of Vernon has recom-
6 mended to the City Council of the City of Vernon that a reserve
7 unit be established for the purposes of enabling the City of Vernon
8 to utilize professional services and police services which may
9 encompass abilities beyond the regularly employed personnel of the
10 Police Department of the City of Vernon, and
11 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to
12 implement the existing Police Department by the creation of a
13 reserve uni t,
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
15
16 does hereby establish a Police Force Reserve Unit to be named as
17 uVERNON POLICE RESERVE UNIT".

SECTION 2: That said Police Reserve Unit shall be adminis-
19 tered by the Chief of Police of the City of Vernon and said Chief
20 of Police shall determine the number of men to be retained in said
21 unit, PI"omulgate the training necessary for said men, and adopt
22 rules and regulations pertaining to the employment and compensation
23 of said members of the Vernon Police Reserve Unit. Any rules or
24 regulations pertaining to compensation shall first have the prior
25 approval of the City Council of the City of Vernon, or, in the
26 event that said rules or regulations shall provide that compensa-
27 tion shall be as recommended by the Chief of Police of the City of
28 Vernon, the same shall be subj~ct to the approval prior to dis-
29 bursement of said sums, by the City Council of the City of Vernon.

SECTION 3: That members of the Vernon Police Reserve Unit
31 shall onLy be paid for services on active duty if and when called
32 by the Police Chief of the City of Vernon, and compensation shall

1 be for the following services:
:3 (a) Shooting pay where authorized by the Police Chief
of the City of Vernon;

(b) Court appearance where authorized by the Police Chief
4 of the City of Vernon;
5 (c) $1.00 per year for each member of the Vernon Police
Reserve Unit.
SECTION 4: Members of the Vernon Police Reserve Unit shall
supply such equipment, including but not limited to Uniforms and
Fire Arms as.may be required by the rules and regulations set
forth by the Chief of Police of the City of Vernon.
SECTION 5: That the City of Vernon shall pay any and all .
necessary premiums pertaining to the creation of the Vernon Police
Reserve Unit for false arrest insurance, workmen's compensation
insurance, and comprehensive general liability, and any and all
other appropriate insurance policies which may otherwise pertain
to police officers within the City of Vernon, when they are
conducting their active duties as police officers.
SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 1st day of April, 1969.
