Resolution No. 3025 J. 2 ;3 i! 5 61 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 ,; RESOLUTION NO. 3025 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, APPROVING CONTRACT NO. 329, ALAMEDA STREET AND 25TH STREET INTERSECTION RECONSTRUCTION, AND DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 329 OF THE CITY OF VERNON. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of the City of Vernon, Contract No. 329, providing for Alameda Street and 25th Street intersection reconstruction, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has determined that it is in the best interests of the City that said contract be awarded in accordance with applicable State laws, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: SECTION 1: That Contract No. 329 is hereby approved 15 14 by the City Council of the City of Vernon. SECTION 2: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon 16 is hereby directed to file in his office in the City Hall of the 17 City of Vernon a copy of Contract No. 329. 18 SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon 19 is hereby directed to give notice in writing, inviting sealed 20 proposals or bids for Alameda Street and 25th Street intersection 21 reconstruction in accordance with Contract No. 329, and in 22 accordance with this resolution. 23 SECTION 4: There being no newspaper of general circula- 24 tion printed, published, or yirculated in the City of Vernon,. the 25 City Clerk is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the 26 same to be posted in three (3) of the most public places in the 27 City of Vernon, to wit: The northwest corner of 38th Street and 28 Santa Fe Avenue, the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and 29 Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board ~n the lobby of the 30 City Hall, of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, 31 in sa id City. 32 SECTION 5: That the City Council of the City of Vernon 1. It J. has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem wages 2 in the locality in which the work described in Contract No. 329 ;3 is to be performed, for each craft, classification, or type of 4 workman needed to execute said contract and that the general 10 forth in full, and hereby approved by the City Council of the 11 City of Vernon. 12 SECTION 6: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon is 13 directed to post said notice forthwith and the first posting of 14 said notice shall be not less than ten (10) days before the date 15 of opening bids for the proposed work. That said notice shall 16 provide that sealed proposals or bids will be received by the 17 City of Vernon, California, at the office of the City Clerk of 18 said City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, until the hour 19 of 2:00 o'clock P.M., on the 5th day of August, 1969, in accordanc 20 with Contract No. 329, approved by said City. 21 SECTION 7: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon 22 shall certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and 23 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect. 24 ADOPTED and APPROVED this l5thday of July, 1969. 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 ATTEST: ~CHY Clerk 2. , ~ J. The 13 proposals will be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers 14 of the City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, Califor- 15 nia, on the date and at the time above mentioned. Specifications 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 and contract documents may be obtained at the above-mentioned offige of the City Clerk upon payment of a deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) for each specification. The construction to be done and materials to be fur- nished under said Contract No. 329 are approximately as follows: Excavation and removal Heater Planing Constructing concrete curb Constructing concrete gutter and driveway Constructing rock base Constructing A.C. pavement Constructing 31" sidewalk Constructing keyway Constructing catch basis No. 1 Constructing 18n RCP D-Load 2000 Constructing Junction Structure No. 2 Raising manhole frames and covers Furnishing nerium oleanders Planting nerium oleanders Installation of traffic signals and sign 4950 sq. ft. 1570 lin. ft. 1000 sq. ft. 486 tons 900 tons 2400 sq. ft. 350 ft. 2 ea. 26 line ft. 1 ea. 4 ea. 21 ea. 21 ea. The construction shall be in accordance with Plan No. P-1783 &T-1784 and Contract No. 329 heretofore approved by the City Council of said City, and now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, a copy of which may be secured from the 1. . ~ . . 1 Traffic Engineer of said City. 2 Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the ;3 provisions of Sections 1770-1781, inclusive, of the Labor Code 4 of the state of California, the City Council of the City of 5 Vernon has ascertained. the general prevailing rate of per diem 6 wages and rai;es for legal holidays and for overtime work in the 7 locality in which this work is to be performed, for each craft 8 or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract 9 which will be awarded to the successful bidder, and that Resolu- 10 tion No. 3025 of the City of Vernon establishes said rates, and 11 is on file with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon. 12 Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may 13 submit with their bids a sworn statement of their financial 14 responsibility, technical ability and experience. Such sworn 15 statement may be required before award is made to any particular 16 bidder. 17 To be entitled to consideration, each bid submitted 18 pursuant to this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained 19 at the Office of the Traffic Engineer; shall be accompanied by a 20 certified Cll.eck, draft or bid bond, payable at a bank authorized 21 to do business .in the State of California, made payable at sight 22 to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, in an amount equal to 23 ten per cent (lO%) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the 24 c~ty Clerk Of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at, or 25 before, the time stated herein, and must be plainly marked 26 "Proposal for Contract No. 329". 27 The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given as a 28 guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded 29 to him and will be declared forfeited if the successful bidder 30 refuses or neglects to enter into a contract of the required form 31 after being requested to do so by the City Clerk of the City of 32 Vernon, California. The successful bidder will be required to 2. ~ ~.
