1 RESOLUTION NO~. 3032
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, ESTABLISH-
INGTHE POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS.

4 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
5 WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2932 of the City of Vernon set
6 forth the purpose of the Engineering, water, and the Traffic
7 Engineering and Street Departments, and established the responsi-
8 bilities of the three department heads, and
9 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires
10 to abolish said positions as department heads, but to retain the
11 existence of .said departments, all under the management and super-
12 viSion of the Director of Public Works, a position to be created
13 by this Resolution, and
14 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon, by
15 Resolution No. 3023, has set forth the compensation, and other
16 benefits of the department heads and other employees of the City
17 of Vernon,
18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

SECTION 1: That the position of Director of Public
20 Works is hereby established for the purpose of acting as department
21 head of the Engineering Department, the Water Department, and the
22 Traffic Engineering and Street Department of the City of Vernon.

SECTION 2: That the responsibilities of the City
24 Engineer, the Superintendent of the Water Department, and the
25 Traffic Engineer be and the same hereby are delegated to the
26 Director of Public Works.

SECTION 3: The departments created pursuant to Resolutio
28 No. 2932, and the responsibilities of the department heads as set
29 forth in said Resolution, shall remain the same, with the exception
30 that the Director of Public Works shall have over-riding super-
31 visory authority over each of said department heads as set forth
32 in said Resolutionand/ shall, in fact, act as the department head

1 of each of said departments.

SECTION 4: Robert H. King is hereby designated as
;3 Director of Public Works for the City of Vernon.

SECTION 5: Said Director of Public Works shall receive
5 the same s.alary as is presently set forth for the Superintendent
6 of the ~ater Department of the City of Vernon pursuant to Resolu-
7 tion No. 3023.

SECTION 6: This Resolution shall take effect and be of
9 full force and effect as of August 5, 1969.

SECTION 7: All portions of Resolutions in conflict with
11 this Resolution are hereby repealed.

SECTION 8: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
13 certify to the passage of this Resolution, and thereupon and there-
14 after the same shall be in full force and effect.
