CONTRACT NO. 336FOIt HEATER REMIXlNGANDASPHALT RESURFACING OF
3 CERTAIN STREETS AND GIVING NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR
BIDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 336 OF THE CITY OF VERNON.

5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOOLOWS:
6 WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of
7 the City of VernonContract No. 336 providing for beater remixing
8 and asphalt resurfacing of certain streets, and
9 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has deter-
10 mined that it is in the best interests of the City that said
11 contract be awarded in accordance with.. applicable State laws,
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

SECTION 1: That Contract No. 336 is hereby approved by
14 the City Council of the City of Vernon.

SECTION 2: That tbe City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
16 hereby directed to file in his office in the City Hall of the City
17 of Vernon a copy of Contract No. 336.

SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
19 hereby directed to give notice in writing, inviting sealed
20 proposals or bids for he.ater remixing and asphalt resurfacing of
21 certain streets in accordance with Contract No. 336, and in
22 accordance with this resolution.

SECTION 4: There being no newspaper of general circula-
24 tion printed, published, or circulated in the City of Vernon, the
25 City Clerk is herepy directed to post said notice, or cause the
26 same to be posted, in three (3) of. the most public places in the
27 City of Vernon, to wit: The northwest corner of 38th Street and
28 Santa Fe Avenue, the northe~st corner of Leonis Boulevard and
29 Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the
30 City Hall in the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue,
31 in said City.

Section 5: That the. City Council has ascertained the
2 prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which the
3 work described in Contract No. 336 is to be performed, for each
4 craft, classification or type of workman needed to execute the
5 said contract, and that the general prevailing rate of per diem
6 wages and the general prevailing rate for holiday and overtime
7 work in the locality of the execution of Contract No. 336 for each
8 craft, cl~ssificiltion, or type of workman needed is set forth in
9 said contrac1;".and incorporated by reference at this point for all
10 purposes as if set forth in full, and :tereby approved by the City
11 Council of the City of Vernon.

SEC'l.tON 6: That t4e Ci~y 'Clerk of the City of Vernon is
13 directed to post said notice forthwith and the first posting of

16 provide that sealed proposals or bids will be received by the

20 acc9rdance witll Contract No. 336 approved by said City.

SECTION 7: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon
22 shall certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
23 thereafter the same shall be in fullforce and effect.

Pursuant to Resolution No. 3068 of the City of Vernon,
adopted on the 20th day of January, 1970, directing same, notice
is hereby given that sealed proposals or bids will be received by
the City of Vernon, california, at the office of the City Clerk
of said City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, until the
hour of two (2) o'clock p.m., on the 3rd day of February, 1970,
for. heater remixing and asphalt resurfacing of certain streets, in
11 accordance with Contract No. 336 approved by said City. The
12 proposals will be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers
13 of the City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, Califor-
14 nia, on the date and at the time above mentioned. Specifications
15 and contract documents may be obtained at the above mentioned
16 office of the City Clerk upon payment of a deposit of ten dollars
17 ($10.00) for each specification.
18 The construction to be done and materials to be furnished
19 under said Contract No. 336 are approximately as follows:

State of California, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem wages and
rat.es for legal holidays and for overtime work in the locality
in which this work is to be performed, for each craft or type of
workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be
awarded to the successful bidder, and that Resolution No. 3068 of
the City of Vernon establishes said rates, and is on file with the
City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit
with their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility,
technical ability and experience. Such sworn statement may be
requiredbe;for~ award is made to any particular bidder.
Tojb~ ~ntitled to consideration, each bid submitted pur-

suant te th.is notice shall be made out, on a ",form to be obtained
at the Office of the Traffic Engineer; sha.ll be accompanied by a
certified check, draft or bid bond" payable at ,a banlf:authorized
to do business in the State of Calif'ornia, made payable at sight to
the City Clerk of the Cityof'Vernon,in an amount equal to ten
per cent (10%) of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the
Ci ty Clerk;)of the City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at, or
before, the time stated herein, and must be plainly marked
"PlDoposal for Contract No. 336".
The above mentioned check or bond shall.. be given as a
guarantee that the bidder will .enter into a contract if awarded
to him and will be declared forfeited if the successful bidder
refuses or neglects. to enter into a contract of the required form
after being requested to do so by the City Clerk of the City of
Vernon, California. The successful bidder will be required to
furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per
cent (50% of the Contract price, and a faithful performance bond
in an amount equal to one huli.dredper cent (100%) of the Contract
price.

Unless otherwise required by law, 110 bidder may withdraw
2 his bid for a period of thirty (30) ~ays after the date set for
3 the opening thereof.
4 A deposit of ,ten dollars, ($lO.,OQ) .will be required to secur
5 the Plans and Specifications, as a guarantee that the Plans and
6 Specifications will be returned, which deposit will be refunded
7 in case same are returned to the City in good condition not later
8 than thirty (30) days af~er the bids on the work will have been
9 opened.
10 The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all
11 bids or waive any informality in the bid.
